Since I no longer commute the C14 has dropped on my must ride list. She still sees time, but not like it was. I primarily ride my F800GS as I like them gravel roads and the escape I get from them. I still need a bike for our street based track classes and the military sport bike class, so it will be more of a tool than a toy. I also like the idea of a super motard. Choices, choices...
I am looking at making some kinda deal with Datasaxman for a trade and his list of bikes is awesome, several fit perfect, and if I could I would own several of them.
So, not giving away the list, which bikes would YOU consider? Remember, I no longer commute, I ride the GS for extended periods, on and off road, and need a bike/bikes that will fit my needs.

Triumph Speed Triple if you are not commuting. Ducati Monster 1200 looks nice too. Even the Honda CB 1100 has appeal.
Good luck.

I am eyeing the the CTX 1300 Honda has coming out. I think it'll be too pricey though.

Interesting. I bet it will be pricey too. For full on touring I would want an electric windshield. I do like the look of the exposed exhaust (something that is missing in the new Valkyrie).

FZ-09 is worth a good look too. I just read the write up in Motorcyclist mag.$8,000.

That would be the bike I would look at if you are looking new.
ZZR600 is a great buy right now if you don't mind carbs.
Any of the hypermotards would fill that category you are looking for as well.

Thanks guys!! So, y'all were not far off. Here is what I/we agreed on. A VFR 750 and a 520 KTM Motarded with both sets of rims (street and dirt). Stoked and bummed all at the same time. The Connie is so smooth, yet powerfull. If I were still doing the daily commute I wouldn't ever consider a sale or trade. If mamma wasn't happy on the GS, same. The Connie is capable on the track, but different than what the vast majority of students use, so it is a challenge doing demos they can relate to (Advanced Street Skills class, not a race type event). Same holds true for the Military Sports Bike class. The SM is for me, a skills building toy ;D

this one will do light track duty and military ;D

"Light" duty? If I were a wealthy man I would have 2 of these in the stable, one ADV'd up and one for the street. Nothing screams excess like 150 ponies on a dirt bike :o Can you imagine tire life? Tire caches will become as common as fuel caches ;)

I said "light TRACK duty" meaning I'd run it to death on track days but not enter CCS races or such with it :D
heavier track duty would justify one of these in the garage

No justification required to have either one of those items in the garage ;)

Multistrada? the sport/tour version.
I've never ridden one, but they have their attraction. Lotta miles in between dealers, tho'.

Ever tried to find a KTM dealer?!?
Like chasing proverbial gypsies, they disappear overnight.

A brand new Yamaha FJR 1300, Bright Red, cruise control and yes even though its a 5 speed. A very beautiful bike.
But I'm not getting rid of the Concours.

The only other bike for me would be a new FJR 1300, or maybe a Norton 850 Super Commando- always thought that bike would be a hoot. But I still love Connie, so I can't cheat on her.

10-4, that's what I bought (although I wasn't replacing a C14):

And it has this on the left handlebar controls:

Since it has throttle-by-wire (Yamaha calls it YCC-T or Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), there are two drive modes - Touring and Sport. These are fantastic and very usable in a variety of riding conditions. I use them all the time for various ride modes.
My initial ride impressions here:

Really? There's 3 around me thriving. A few more 100 miles away.
Also, they are all over Mexico is why I'm confused by your statement ;D

Tuesday ;D I gather the herd for a group photo along with a departing photo.

I traded my 2009 C14 for a 2011 Triumph Speed Triple a year ago, on the 330 mile ride home I kept thinking I had made a bigggg mistake. 14,000 miles later, I am loving the S3.

I can't think of a single bike.
