I'm due for a new set. Still on the originals at 6700 miles.. Anyone know of any good deals out there? PR3s still a top performer for a C14? Any advice is appreciated, especially from those who commute in the rain.

PR3's are the best I've used for performance with decent life. PR2's are a close second IMHO. OEM stones and Avon Storm 2 ultra's not even close. Lot's of people like the Pirelli Angels. I'd give them a try but the PR3's just work so well for me I'm going to stick with what works.

I really like the pr3 front, got a bit better mileage out of the pr2 rear.

I have over 100k on the C14's, besides originals, 4 sets of PR2's and about 8 sets of PR3's, ordering another set this week. The PR2's are great, just seem happier with the PR3's. Either way, it feels really nice with new tires. Have looked hard at all tires that are available but have not found any reasoning to switch to something else yet. Just about everyone i ride with have switched to PR3's, several C14's and several 1000 sport bikes and all are really happy they did.

One thing I highly recommend is going to the 55 profile on the rear. Feels lighter on turn in to corners and reduces speedometer error.

Love my PR3s in a 55 rear profile.

^^^^^yes but this is only true when both a second best tire and a second best size WILL NOT suffice (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/icon10.gif) (http://s80.photobucket.com/user/stevewfl/media/icon10.gif.html)

Can't tell the difference with the 55's..

I like the PR2s over the PR3s. The PR2s wear better and are more predictable.

Both the PR2 and PR3 are absolutely awesome tires. They're very similar to each other except for one small difference. You'll get slightly more life out of the PR2 but the PR3 grips a tad bit better in the rain. Although, my PR2s have never let me down on the very rare occasions when I've found myself in inclement weather. So, the choice really seems to depend on where you live and how often you ride on wet pavement or in the rain. If it's rarely then I'd definitely go with the PR2s, only springing for the PR3s if you do frequent wet riding.

I got a few responses on the thread I posted over on the C10 forum but it's died down a bit now. It sounds like the owners here are willing to go for it, though. That is, if I can manage to locate a bike somewhere within about a 150-200 mile range from Camarillo, CA. I hope I can find one because it seems like a fun bike to design/build parts for, for some reason.
Ryan, glad to see you back!
Thank you, sir! I've actually been lurking regularly, keeping an eye out for questions I can help answer but haven't posted in quite a while it seems like. Feels good to once again toss my hat into the ring!

Anything that makes the bike higher is a huge negative to some of us...

So far I am a big fan of the Continental Conti Motion series low cost and so far great performance.

Thanks for the helpful replies. I am going to try to find a good deal on PR2s or PR3s and figure it out from there.

My experience was that they were the same price as just about everyone else but instead of getting my tires the next day it took JW 6 days.

Had my new PR3s put on today and...WOW! Everything I read about the PR3s transforming the bike's handling is absolutely true. It's almost like getting a new bike! Gotta get some more break in miles on the tires before I can really push on them ;)

Keep in mind that ANY new tires, even crappy ones, will transform the bike when compared to worn-out (flat or scalloped/etc) ones. Just sayin'
