As we all know the ZG14 and ZX14 have the same front fender...
A lot of ZX14 folks put a ZX10 front fender on, looks much cleaner on the front IMO. 8)
Anyone running or got pics of a ZX10 front fender on a ZG14?? :-\

I think Jeremy trimmed his stocker quite a bit.

If I'm not mistaken, the swap requires an adapter bracket since the ZX10 has a different bolt pattern. I looked into a couple of years ago but decided to trim the stock one instead and then paint it black to further reduce the perceived ginormity. Stock always reminded me of the wheel skirts on an old biplane and it was difficult to get the wheel out. Now I just loosen the front bolts and the tire/wheel slides right out.
The cut-line I made is up to the top of the ABS sticker and then straight out to the leading edge. More could have come off if you want it even smaller.

Yes it does, that's the ebay link I posted.

d*mn that looks good

I've decided to go ahead and move forward with this, I just ordered up the conversion brackets and found a ZX10 front fender on ebay that has carbon fiber sides on it. I still have paint left over from doing the lowers so when this fender arrives next week I'm gonna drop it of at the painter and when I get back from the National it will be all done and ready to put on. :)
Here's the ZX10 fender with the carbon fiber sides that I bought, I think the carbon fiber sides will go nicely with the carbon fiber rear hugger and Muzzys, and then the top will be painted in matching green as the rest of my bodywork. 8)

pics, pics, pics!

Ok, my painter got the ZX10 front fender all painted up while I was at the National, picked it up today, it looks great in the matching green IMO!
Now I just need to decide if I want to run the carbon fiber sides with it or the painted sides and add the black ABS stickers... :-\
Install is this Saturday.... 8) ;D

Gotta pic of the bracket J?

Gotta pic of the bracket J?
Sorry C I don't, already threw it back in the box to drop off at my shop today along with the fender, it's very basic though, just a piece of machined aluminum with screw holes for the mount on our bike and then screw holes for the ZX10 fender to bolt into.
-
Well, install is a no-go today, the conversion brackets I bought use the 2 forward mounting points on the ZX and ZG forks, my ZX14 Ohlins forks don't have those 2 mounting points, they just have a single mount arm connection on the front which is where the fender bolt mounts to... :( >:(
So now I'm going to have to get something fab'd up to make it work... I'm gonna give Dan Kyle a buzz on Monday to see if he has any suggestions and go from there... :'(

Well, sorry to say this project is a no-go for me... :(
The brackets to make the ZX10 fender fit on the ZG will only work if you have the ZG oem forks (with factory mounting points), which I just don't have with my Ohlins... >:(
So in short, FAIL for me, $500 flushed down the toilet, I'll take my lumps and move on... (http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/mad.gif) (http://s1200.photobucket.com/user/jaywilcox/media/mad.gif.html)(http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb336/jaywilcox/swiqe.gif) (http://s1200.photobucket.com/user/jaywilcox/media/swiqe.gif.html)
I'm going a different direction now, I'll post up a new thread for that. :)
-
By the way, I'll let Gumby pick this thread up from here, the conversion brackets and fender are now his... :chugbeer:

Sorry about that man.

Well what do ya think? I don't care for any combination of these pieces. You can have them all back Jay :P I'm going to buy an all black one.

+1 on the all black.

The fender showed up in excellent condition. The only thing I had to clean off were fingerprints.
Should I go badge-less and make people wonder even more?

Fender looks much cleaner Gumby! 8) :chugbeer:
Carbon fiber sides would be better though IMO... :-\ 8)
As for badges I vote to keep the badges on, changing the color might be cool though. :)

Badgeless and CF all the way :)
