Title: new EBC front rotors, notch on inner side of rotor
Post by: jtk1531 on July 27, 2013, 10:36:52 PM
i've just received a new pair of EBC front rotors in the mail.
first thing i noticed is a notch on the inside of the steel rotors on both discs. not sure if this is a design feature or a manufacturing fault.
anyone have any ideas? i've emailed the seller, haven't received an answer yet.

I just went out to the garage and checked mine and yep same mark, so I'd say normal.

Yes. Yes it is. (Bad engineering pun, implying geeky attempt at humor. You should laugh here.)

Wow you all check parts well.  I threw mine on, and once I saw the additional bite and performance with the double-H pads (compared to the stockers) I called it a day  :D

I never noticed it on mine.

Not to hijack this thread but with so many of you using these rotors did any of you replace original rotors because of warping? I am headed to my 3rd pair of oem. Completely baffled. I am not a hard rider.

I replaced mine because someone said the service level is 4.5mm or such and mine was 3.9mm and appeared paper thin (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j180/stevewfl/avatars/eek.gif) (http://s80.photobucket.com/user/stevewfl/media/avatars/eek.gif.html)

My oem's were as straight as Max.  ;D

I only went to the EBC's to match up with the gold wheels...  ;) 8)

no warping till date, but the original discs are under the wear limit within 22,000 miles (36,000 km). used OEM pads (new version) all this while. planning to use the discs till they're down to 4.0mm thick.
i'm replacing it with EBC because it's cheaper than OEM, even with international shipping costs and customs tax included.

incidentally, EBC discs measured 5.04mm and 5.09mm thick (used a micrometer to measure). looks a lot more better than the range given in kawasaki's oem disc thickness. EBC doesn't seem to publish their rotor thickness anywhere.
