Title: Brake pads same on front/rear of pre 94 models?
Post by: kzz1king on July 23, 2013, 03:53:30 PM
Put my 86 rear wheel on my 01 today. Brake pads were down there so I put the caliper from my 86 on which had much better pads and I had rebuilt. I also have new front pads for the 86 and they look the same as the rear but according to Ron Ayers site the last digit of the part number is different. Are they interchangable? Thanks

Yes they are interchangable. When I fitted 4 piston calipers to the front my bike the OEM pads still had a reasonable amount of life in them and I have been using them on the rear, and in the last month I fitted the last of them. I don't know why the part numbers are different as they look identical including the pad material which is most likely bronze.
