Tried plugging my small air compressor into the 12 volt plug today to top off the tires and it blew the 5 amp fuse. Any danger in swapping out the fuse to a 10 amp?

Wire size may not allow a heavier fuse. Pigtail off the battery for compressor, battery tender, 15 amp fuse.

There's probably a reason it's fused at 5 amps. You could substitute a 10 amp but I would have an extinguisher handy and keep an eye out for smoke...
Which reminds me of a story... Years ago I had a 64 Rambler station wagon. Every seat in that vehicle would recline to near horizontal....I loved that car but it had a tendency to warp heads after my mom ran it out of coolant. It had a flat 6, I think, and the oil filter was sitting on the top of the engine. Interesting design. I once got over 30 mpg on it and that was when gas was cheap. I once bought gas for 17 cents a gallon before the first oil embargo.... Yep, they were the good ole days.
Anyway, a fuse kept blowing and I didn't know why. I had the great idea to wrap it in foil and then drive it. About 5 minutes in smoke billowed out from under the dash and I pulled over. Found that a wire was rubbing on the parking brake cable and was causing a short. Good news was that I found the problem. Bad news was that I melted a good quarter of the interior dash wiring.
There's also a moral to this story and that is be careful in upping fuses just because you want to run something that has more power consumption than what's rated for the circuit. Bad things can happen to good bikes. With that being said, let us know if the bike survives.

Easy fix. Either I'll run a plug out the left side of the bike and wire it directly to the battery with a fused link or will buy a small manual pump.
Does anyone know where I can get a plug with two wire off it that will connect to one of the 12 volt Slime pumps that I can connect to the battery?

Pick up a standard battery tender, they come with the SAE plug for the battery. I resisted the tender for over three years as I rode daily, back surgery and recovery left me with a dead battery.

+1 Get a Battery Tender Jr. They are cheap, include all the cables and work well to boot.

Mine came with a 7.5a fuse. I just changed it to a 15a fuse so that I can plug my Slime pump in if need be.
The Slime pump that I have will blow a 10a fuse so you had better use a 15a.

I thought mine was much higher. Well, you can replace the fuse with something much higher- the size wires and connectors are rated for much higher- probably up to 20A.

It will work. Check the fuse and swap if necessary. Auto parts store or bike shop should have the same thing.

Yep, as Gary said, it'll work once you change the fuse out.
