Title: Delkevic muffler question
Post by: kjk concours on June 19, 2013, 07:40:13 PM
Got my delkevic muffler today and it came with two baffles. The first one is in the muffler the way it was shipped. The second one was in the box has a bunch of holes in it. I don't remember reading it came with two baffles, just one that you can remove. Also in the box is a two inch bracket with two holes drilled in it. Anyone on this two items.

Mine just had the one installed, and none in the box.

I got the tri CF 18".

I like how it sounds with it in, and haven't taken it out (at least yet...)

Mine only came with the baffle already installed, no second baffle.

The bracket with holes in it is used as a "push down" so the pipe will clear the saddle bag. If you don't use it and mount the pipe where your stock one was attached when you put the bag back on it will hit the pipe. I'll try and find a picture for you.

I have the 18" stainless pipe (oval).  Pulled the baffle and never looked back. Sounds nice and quiet until I twist the throttle (hard).  It's just that little screw holding it in, but it's sticky, so you can pry it slowly with a thin screwdriver in the hole.  Use leverage, we're not cavemen, and then you won't get hurt when it comes free.

I do notice a little extra vibration in the handlebars at around 90mph in 6th gear, but I'm starting to think I should sync the fuel injectors before looking elsewhere for the vibrations.  I know if I pull in the clutch and let the motor idle it goes away completely, and I don't remember feeling anything until recently.

Any thoughts, guys?

Once off idle how relevant is FI sync?

I don't know, but I've read several times that this is a cause of vibration...
