Title: Looking for muffler recommendations
Post by: BlkBird on May 26, 2013, 02:49:19 PM
Just purchased a pristine ZX-14 exhaust manifold off fleabay, I plan to keep the bike single exhaust for awhile as I want my girls to have a side they can get off the bike with no exhaust.  I already have a stainless muffler on the bike and was wondering if anyone has had any luck shimming the Ninja manifold and using the slip on they already have?  I know there is a difference in the OD-ID from the manifold to the stock Connie exhaust but was hoping not to have to go out and purchase another slip-on just to use the manifold.  Eventual plans are to install a full dual system and likely purchase a pair of matching pipes that will fit correctly but that is a future project and for now I'm on a budget so I'm trying to go cheap.  Has anyone done this with success?

You just need the "other" size doughnut / gasket (there are 2 different sizes, which I documented in the Accessories section a while back).  What do you plan to do with the second header outlet, if you only have 1 muffler?

I'm considering making a cap and clamping it in place for the time being.

In that case, you should take a look at this thread for info on the sizing.

And here's the link (better late than never, right?) ... http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1540.0 (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1540.0)
