Title: Dam F*%$ing rain and cold spring
Post by: wroman on May 15, 2013, 11:10:57 AM
Supposedly a stationary front has been sitting over Greenland stalling the normal west to east weather crossing the country.  This front has a clockwise flow binging the jet stream down and infecting a good part of the US with much cooler weather.  This may be why people go on shooting spree's.  I need sunshine and an open road............

Think of it from our standpoint (down here in South Texas).

This is the most pleasant May we've had in some time.
Normally it's already into the 90's.....
Today it's only in the 70's.....
Plus, we've been in a drought. We've been begging for rain.

Ride safe, Ted

Perfect weather in FL, I haven't even had to escape to the NC mountains yet to avoid FL summer heat  8)

Here in Alberta we've had 3 weeks of nice weather.  Winter was a month behind on hittin the road.  We're starting to catch up to spring.  Even the snowbanks are gone and the seed drills are hitting the fields this week. A month and a half of craziness then I can get to some serious riding.

Ditto from Saskatchewan. Only been riding for 2 weeks, and there is still snow to be found in some ditches. City roads are still pretty gravelly, so have to watch out for slipping.

I think you could  go on a shooting spree on cloudy days and crowded roads too.

My seven day from Tucson.  It's now too hot to ride and have to wait for winter.  :-[

We just put ours skis away a few weeks ago up here in NH.
Been riding with the screen up and the grip heaters on high.
Spring is kicking in...slowly.

We set an all time record high temp for yesterday of 92, that's 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. It was a bit warm when stopped on the bike. I avoided stopping as much as possible.  :)

How many of you were forced to live where you live? You can move about the country, you know.
Here in the wonderful South we have and are having a wonderful Spring. It's been cool for the most part, we have had a little rain, but that doesn't really cause any problems. I've enjoyed riding and camping this spring, if you haven't maybe it's time to move or to QYB.

Finally its getting into the 100s in Phoenix. For me thats proper riding weather. Yes I live here by choice. Gods country. We can ride year round.

I rode at 100 in Phoenix and although not perfect it still is not as bad as it sounds, low humidity.  Now anything over 110 is pushing it, especially in the city.   My C-14 is new and at 3,500 miles it is badly in need of getting broken in.

I spent the last two days riding out of the NorthEast and into Ohio.  It's beautiful out here in Dayton.  So warm, in fact, that I wish I had room to pack my mesh riding jacket.  It's 76F right now, at midnight.  Chances of thunderstorms the next couple of days, but temps in the high 70s.

I've never stopped riding here in VA (except when it snowed of course).  Not to bad in the summer, spring, or fall.  And dressed right for the occasional cold day in winter, you can't tell it from a spring day except the extra layer.  And rain is just rain. Put your rain suit on and slow down and it's just another ride.

We rode to Cornwall at the weekend. About 300 miles each way.
Got damp the last 20 miles into Bodmin on Friday.
Stayed mostly dry on Saturday.
Stayed ahead of the rain after the first 30 miles on Sunday coming home.
All in all a fun weekend and good to meet new & old friends.
Some were even on GTRs.  8)

I've ridden in -4F and in 110F and of the two I'd rather ride in 110F.
Even with heated jacket, pants and gloves -4F is just too damn cold!
I had icicles grow from my nostrils to my upper lip in under an hour.

That is so lovely. I have ridden in that area and hate living in central IL more and more.  But I have a good job and children here so it's hard to move.  I would live in NorCal somewhere between Eureka and San Francisco if I could.
