Currently, I have an IPhone 4 cradle. I do not ride in the rain when possible, but on long summer trips I'm bound to hit rain somewhere in the PNW.

I ordered AquaBox Pro 20 the other day, but after taking it out of the box it kind of looks like a piece of junk. Plus I cannot plug in my phone while using it. I will be returning this today.

I got tired of looking through old posts. What do you guys use for waterproof\resistant cases for your phones?
I have already ordered the RAM Universal X-Grip holder.

I could never rely on a phone for GPS, too many times you could be without a good signal. GPS units are so cheap now it is ridiculous, and no you do not need a waterproof or moto specific unit. That is my 2 cents. ;)

While I agree with the above statement, and have a Zumo 550 for my GPS needs... some like using their phones.
-
i have been using the case from buybits.com. I have used it in the rain nuerous times without any problems. It is also easy to use the iphone while riding. I had one ride where it poured constant, 34 degree rain on my for 6 hours going through WY and there was not a hint of water in the case.

I use my phone mainly for the IRadar app, which has both a dashboard read out and a map display. I typically have it on the dashboard view so my speed is right in front of me at all times. This bike seems to have a mind of its own and wanders above the speed limit if you don't keep an eye on'r.
I have a Garmin GPS unit but I find I do not use it for anything on my motorcycle. On my summer road trips I wake up in the morning, look at the atlas and go eeny, meeny, miny, moe, and point to a place I want to go that day.
What's that saying? Oh ya 8)

Which case though?

I think I found it. This looks like a good case here.

May have to modify the mount for a RAM ball.

Lifeproof on my 4s. Completely waterproof, except when you are charging. Doesn't take up alot of room like an otterbox.
Great warranty. Will fit nicely in your holder.

I have that mount permanently attached to a RAM removable mount, the one that slips over the the little round disc and locks on.
I slide the thing onto the ram mount until it clicks, plug power cord into phone and put into case. If you look, there is a little plastic loop piece under the case. It comes with an "Oh $hit" strap. Strap attaches to bottom of case ands there is a quick release to attach to the other strap which is attached to steering stem. That way, in the unlikelyhood that the mount should fall off, it will be saved by the strap.
I remove the whole thing whenever I park it (takes about ten secs) as I don't want someone to come by, break it off the bike then later discover that there is no iphone in it.

I have been using the ram xmount with a lifeproof http://www.lifeproof.com/en/ (http://www.lifeproof.com/en/) case for 8 months. Heavy rain, rough roads, snow and everyday riding with no problems. You can plug in power without opening the case, just a small door on the bottom. I would not hesitate to buy another one if needed.

I use a car cradle for my Droid Razr HD and if it starts to rain, I put the phone in the glove box. I also use a separate Garmin Nuvi 3450 for nav because lots of back country without cell connection. Same thing with the Garmin, if it starts to rain, glove box.

GPS maps are so outdated its ridiculous. Its actually junk compared to google maps/google navi, which update construction changes and such daily.
Only time I use my GPS is when I'm in the middle of the desert or in the back mountains, and usually then I still get good cell service nowadays :D

You're right! I still use My GPS quite a bit though, because of the vehicle speed readout, and the speed limit guide. More and more though, the phone is taking it's place. The Trapster app on My Razr, and the speedometer app, can pretty much do veh speed and speed limit posting, plus warn of user reported speed traps.

Also, you can buy applications from the market that will cache maps/trips to the SD. I stopped using a Garmin and Tom Tom a long time ago. I had a nice Zumo before I sold it and bought a smartphone mount...
BTW, the Life Case is what you want for your iPhone 4S...
How is that iRadar working out for you anyways? I never ended up purchasing one. Did they work out the audio alert/music issues?

I like the IRadar, every month or so there is an update to the app and it seems to work better and better. And yes they fixed the alert not shuttting off your music. It lowers your music volume while alerting and then the volume goes back up just like the MapQuest navigator voice. :)
-
I like my Samsung Infuse, but I don't have a mount for it. I just leave it in my pocket. I use Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones and the music will stop and tell you which way to turn, then go back to music. I don't want to look at the map.

I ended up buying a Locking Strap Golf Trolley Mount with Dedicated Waterproof Tough Case for the Apple iPhone 4/4S. It is the same one they make for motorcycles, but $3 cheaper. I received it today and it looks to be very durable, I can work all of the buttons, and it has a small open area inside so the phone can be plugged in.
As far as how waterproof it is I can't tell you yet, but this is not something I plan to go swimming with. I only want to keep the rain off of the phone while riding, and I am fairly certain this is the case katata1100 was referring to so 6 hours in the rain going through WY is good enough for me.
$41 with two day shipping.

Thanks for all of your suggestions everyone. I did not want to spend $80-$100 on a good waterproof case like some of you suggested. I already have a good case for my phone, I just wanted a waterproof mount for my bike.

IRadar cord has the Bluetooth plug-in on it, and I have a Bluetooth helmet. I think I'm all set up now. ;D
