And am not really happy with it. :-[
I tested the medium in the "try a windshield for free" program and really liked it but it was just a bit short. I decided to buy two based upon what you guys have all said, a shorty for the summer and I figured I would go big for the other and bought the XL wide. It doesn't seem to provide a pocket of air as calm as the medium did? More buffeting and more noise I think. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just because I tested the medium in the summer and now it is colder than a witches nipple?
I also bought the tusk mitts on their site and love them. I can now ride in the cold with my vented summer gloves on and still have warm patties.

Do your tusk mitts obscure your vision in the mirrors. I have a set of the KOLPIN mitts, and I tried them on the Connie a few weeks ago. Had to take them off cause they blocked my mirrors. Kind of bummed cause I used them on my Buell and loved'm cause I could wear my summer gloves.

I think the larger the screen the more air it displaces and the more air has to rush in behind it to fill the void.

Neither one of you have your C-14 year in your signature or avatar data. 1st gen vs. 2nd gen makes a huge difference in mirror position...

Yep, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics can be complex stuff. Another thing is that a larger shield can lead to even more back pressure, pushing you forward on the bike and running cold air down your neck and back. Depends on screen angles, screen height, screen width, speed, sitting height, seating position, helmet design, frontal area, and lots of other stuff.
The only way to really know what works is, unfortunately, to try.

I just tried a tall Aeroflow, and it's incredibly effective. Noticeably wider than a CB UT, and no back pressure at all. Aeroflow R&D's the heck out of their shields before release, and it is evident in the results.
I don't know if you tried the Aeroflow, but if not, I would reccomend it.

If you had used a question mark instead of a period we might have recognized it as a question. We are visually dependent here.

Nice catch, let me fix that. :)

Two things:
2011 Black has been at the end of my sig for as long as I've been here :P
and
Yes, the tusk mitts get into the mirrors a bit at the inside edge but not badly enough that it bothers me. It certainly doesn't block enough of the mirror as to make it useless or unsafe IMHO. I will try to take a picture and post it later today.
My apologies for the slow response. I tend to ignore the internet on the weekends when at all possible. It makes my wife a-lot happier.

I've tried three times and I can't get the image to post >:( >:( >:( >:(
I don't have a picassa or anything or I would do it that way. If you want a pic send me your e-mail and I will send you one..

To answer your original question, I have the same screen, the Wide-XL CalSci, on my '10. There is a big difference for me at 6' tall, versus the medium calsci standard width. The wide xl gives me a nice pocket, no buffeting, no back pressure. Makes a big difference on mornings like today when it was 19 degrees. There is less wind on my hands too, which is what I was hoping for.
I can look over the screen if I sit up straight, or look through if I sit relaxed.
The only downside is that with 2" bar risers, the screen hits levers on both sides at full lock. Not by much, but it will apply the front brake, so you have to be careful.

EEEEK! Just when I thought I could relax here comes 'Sister Mary Mark' with that damn ruler again...Ouch!
