I have not conducted a thorough test yet, but right hand side speakers cut out on me. And per my wife, my voice is really muffled when talking. Wondering if this is an issue wth the BT unit itself or the headset. I still need to test by hooking my BT unit to my wife's helment.
-
I'd be inclined to think it's the simplest issue first. My guess would be the contacts between the unit and the helmet clamp, are losing connection. I'd try cleaning the contacts.
-
When I first installed my Sena I had the same issue with the mic. I had to make sure the mic was directly in front of my mouth and that it was facing the right direction. Not sure how long you have owned your Sena but they have a 2 year warranty on the newer models. Hope it works out for you, I couldn't go without my Sena.
-
I also now remember reading that one person had the helmet clamp tightened down too much, and it was causing connection issues. The clamp was distorted, and the contacts were not hitting the Sena unit. Check to make sure it's not too tight.
-
I had the same thing happen to my sena. It was the optional base for earplugs that went bad. They replaced it under warranty no problem.
-
I had my SENA for about two years now - I did do the exchange when they came out with the firmware upgradable ones. I will try out with cleaning contacts, checking how tight, etc. Have not had a chance to try any of those yet
-
Somehow bugs get smashed between the base and unit. Check those contacts first.
Is yours a first or second gen?
-
Based on the OP's reply, it would be second generation as it's firmware upgradable.

Been a while, but I finally was able to clean up the pins in the unit and the plate. I used some rubbing alchohol to clean them up. Used a bit of ketchup as well for good measure! But I still have the issue. When I attach my wife's unit on to my helmet, it works just fine. Dropped an email to SENA to see what they say. Think it is still under warranty.
-
ketchup?
-
Ketchup (acidic) removes oxidation! In case oxidation was not allowing a proper connection.
-
Hope they warranty it out for You. My guess is they have pretty good customer service.

SENA wanted me to do a factory reset and a fault reset. The factory reset did not do a thing. But the fault reset fixed my sound cutting out issue. My voice is still muffled when talking via phone though.
-
The mic is directional, the (small) arrow side goes toward your mouth.
Also place the mic with the correct side facing you directly in front of your mouth, not down at the chin or over to the side, makes a big difference.

Maybe it's the ketchup? What brand did you use and was it in a bottle or those lil squeeze packages? ;)
-
I made sure it got Heinz from a BIG bottle ! Not those lil squeeze packs from McDonalds.
I will see if my mic is twisted. And I missed the post on the clamp being too tight - never hurt to check that as well.
