If you use an enclosure what type ( manufacturer or web site) do you use? Any down side to having the RD in an enclosure? Anyone use an Escort Passport 9500 ix with the H.A.R.D. device with an enclosure and if so does the H.A.R.D. transmitter require a much larger enclosure than a box for just the RD?

When it's raining I just take it off, I don't find myself speeding very much when it's raining... :-\
-
Again, same. Sometimes a baggie and twist tie.
-
Use the Adaptiv TPX waterproof detector. No enclosure or baggie here. It's raining, it stays on. ;D

Funny you should ask as I was searching for one on the Internet yesterday and couldn't find anything!
I'm thinking the baggie is the endstate solution even though it will look a bit red-neck... ;D
Just sayin'...
:P

Here are a couple that I was looking at. I decided against an enclosure since I purchased an Escort Passport 9500 ix that uses GPS to localize false alerts and needs a clear path to the satellites.

I got one years ago from legal speeding .com but they don't offer it anymore. I have tape all over it where the sun had weathered it and made it brittle. When this one dies I will go with a zip lock baggie before I pay $80 for one. The one I got was $35 new and has worked great for at least 5 years.

I definitely need to get a RD. I’ve been way too lucky so far so I’m starting my searches also. If I find anything of interest, I’ll post up.

I finally found a place who sells the clear covers for $41 shipped:

Interesting. 40 seems pricey.

$80 is pricey, I have had one of these for over 5 years and if I didn't push on it to turn the radar detector off and on, which I now have it hard wired, it would still be in excellent shape. After a few years of riding they do become brittle. For $8 a year, I am happy, enough so I bought another one.
But a cheap zip lock baggie used only when it rains would be the COGger way to go. ;D

After 200,000 miles I guess my Traveller II must be waterproof. I have never bothered to protect it from the rain and it still save my arse many times a year.

Same here, sometimes a baggie and twist tie if I get caught in the rain!
