I have read a lot of differing opinions especially on the type of alert to use, visual vs. audible in my research and would be interested in the experience that you guys have had with your RD setup. I want to be able to use the RD on both of my bikes so I am leaning towards the H.A.R.D. alert but I have read it kills batteries fast ( but this may all be due to the operator not turning off the alert device). I plan on using a control mount on the Concours and a stem mount on my GSXR. I am debating about a RD enclosure. Thanks for your help.

I like the V1 system because the rear antenna tells me if I need to slow down, or speed up!

I use an Excort Passport 9500ix with a Marc Parnes visual alert. So I wasn't sure which radio button to push, Escort or Marc Parnes. I pushed Marc Parnes.

Thanks. I guess you can only obtain a single response per poll so I divided the original poll into 3 additional polls.

The batteries in my last HARD lasted for almost 2 years, so I don't see that as bad... I just upgraded from my last HARD to the new HARD V model, great setup IMO. :)

V1 to helmet speaker.

I use the Adaptiv TPX detector with the LED wired setup to the dash, and the wireless audio to the helmet. Works like a charm.

Well it seems that no alert is no good and either the visual or audio alert is acceptable or both. I contacted Vizalert but their alert system is not compatible with my Escort 9500 ix. They told me that they are working on a helmet audio alert for this RD.
I simply purchased an Escort SmartCord direct wire ( contains a small module in mid wire) and mounted the small module that flashes a yellow alert on top of my GPS cradle that sits on a Ram steering stem mount. I'll see how that works.

yeah it's too bad the Visalert isn't compatible with my escort redline either. I like the fact the Visalert lets you know which radar (k, ka, x) it is picking up. The HARD system only lets you know there's radar. Then you have to look down anyway to see what band is lit up....kind of defeats the purpose. Also, it gives you no indication as to the strength of the signal like the detector display and sound do.... it just flashes. I have the new version V and for now i'll use it. I may try to hardwire my redline to my zumo 350 and then get the alerts via bluetooth through my Sena smh10.

I feed the RD audio and my MP3 player into an audio mixer, specifically a Mixit 2. The mixit 2 has 2 stereo inputs an 2 mono inputs, one of these is "priority" - it silences the other three when activated. I where ear buds plugged into the Mixit output which is amped and has a volume control.

BEL STi into an SR10 bluetooth transmitter to my SMH10 headset.
I would never see nor hear the detector with out this setup, and I have tried

So far not one person that voted uses Vizalert.

maybe due to the fact it is only compatible with so few radar detectors.

I finally got the mounts on the bikes. I made a 2x4" plate out of 1/8" aluminum plate and mounted it to a Ram Mount base and attached it to the Concours at the handlebar control. I attached the RD with Velcro to this base. I'll wrap another 1/2" wide Velcro strap around the RD and base. I will tether the RD to the base of the mount with a small black tether from the "clip in" windshield mount on the RD. This will give me some additional security plus I can remove the RD and leave the windshield clip on the bike.
I used a steering stem Ram mount to attach the RD to the GSXR ( a little crooked for photos only will be perfectly straight when in actual use :)) . I now can simply move the RD from one bike to the other and to the car. I'll see how the Smart Cord direct hookup works for visual alert since I mounted the module in my line of sight. On the GSXR I will definitely need to add a helmet assist alert in the near future.
Thanks to you guys for your input.
