From the website:

"The SMH5-FM is a Bluetooth 3.0 stereo headset with Bluetooth intercom and built-in FM tuner designed specifically for motorcycles. With the SMH5-FM, you can call handsfree on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigations by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have two-way intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other motorcycle riders.

Thanks to the latest Bluetooth 3.0 and the advanced digital signal processing technology, the SMH5 offers the best sound quality for both incoming and outgoing sound in its class. Also, the easy-to-access and intuitive button operations make the SMH5-FM a perfect companion for motorcycles."

Is this new?

It's so new it's not even on their price list.  At least I didn't see it when I clicked buy now.

Any possible way to hook a radar detector into it?  I suppose you have to buy a Mix-It box.

Just got this announcement in the e-mail.
I am not affiliated with Sena, but I live close to them and seem to be on their e-mail list.

Sena SMH5 with FM Tuner Option – the SMH5-FM

Hello everyone,
We are pleased to announce the release of our brand new SMH5 headset/intercom model, the SMH5-FM. The SMH5-FM features a built-in FM stereo tuner so users can listen to their favorite radio stations while cruising down the road. The SMH5-FM utilizes the latest in Bluetooth version 3.0 technology and also comes standard with intercom functionality. With the SMH5-FM, the rider can call hands free on a mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigations by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have two-way intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or another motorcycle rider.

The SMH5-FM offers the best sound quality for both incoming and outgoing sound in its class. The easy-to-access jog dial and intuitive button operations make the SMH5-FM a useful and needed accessory for motorcyclists. The SMH5-FM is now available at the Sena Technologies website (www.SenaBluetooth.com (http://www.SenaBluetooth.com)) or through its many retailers across North America.

“Incorporating an FM tuner into our SMH5 Bluetooth headset is an upgrade we are very pleased with and one we think our customers will appreciate,” said Tae Kim, President and CEO of Sena Technologies, Inc. “Since its release in the summer of 2012, the SMH5 has been a popular addition to the Sena line of Bluetooth headset options available for motorcycle riders. The new SMH5-FM enhances those options at an accessible price.”

The Sena SMH5-FM offers more features than its sister product, the SMH5. The SMH5-FM uses the Bluetooth 3.0 to provide multi-pair Bluetooth intercom up to 760 yards(700 meters), voice prompts, Bluetooth stereo headset by A2DP, Bluetooth music playback control by AVRCP, an easy-to-use jog dial, especially with gloved hands, a built-in FM radio tuner with channel scan/store function, optimal sounds level with integrated audio booster, hands free calling for mobile phones, Bluetooth or stereo headset for Bluetooth GPS navigation, water resistant for use in inclement weather, crystal clear and natural sound quality, up to seven hours talk time, six days stand-by time, charging on-the-go, individual volume control for each audio source, free firmware upgrades, and offers a complimentary two-year warranty.

Every customer who purchases the SMH5-FM, or any of Sena’s line of Bluetooth headset/intercom units and accessories, automatically receives complimentary access to Sena’s customer support in case he or she has questions about installation, set up or use. Most new Sena users find installing and beginning to use their new headset/intercom products is a simple process that only takes about 15 minutes. Whenever they become available, free upgrades to firmware are also offered to all registered Sena customers. They also receive peace of mind with the SMH10R and the company’s line of other products thanks to their two-year warranty.

The SMH5-FM Bluetooth headset/intercom system from Sena is sold in individual units or dual kits with a Full Face Helmet Kit or an Open Face Helmet Kit and retails for $159 for individual units and $299 for dual kits. Each SMH5-FM comes standard with a clamp unit, two adjustable in-helmet speakers, Velcro pads for placing the speakers, a wired microphone (Full Face Helmet Kit) or a boom microphone (Open Face Helmet Kit), a USB and power cable, glued surface mounting plate, two microphone wind screens, two speaker pads and an allen wrench. The Open Face Helmet Kit also includes a boom microphone Velcro pad and an attachable boom microphone holder. That's looking better than the one that showed up in my email this morning for the BLiNC 2 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=pe_110250_27124240_pe_row/B004FDY27K (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=pe_110250_27124240_pe_row/B004FDY27K)).  It only lists 4 hours of continuous use, compared to the 7 hours of the Sena.  It also claims only 450 meters for range, which is less then the Sena at 700 meters, making the Sena better for bike to bike comms.  It's probably less money ($135) than the Sena, but I don't think the battery life wouldn't cut it.

I'm working on listening to my wife.   I really try but she says it isn't working...

Yes, I listen to FM, AM(traffic stuff), and will be listening to shortwave soon.  Can't wait to pull in the BBC.

Ah, 8-tracks...  To this day, I hear certain Stones songs (all on Sticky Fingers) and anticipate the pause while the track changes.   I've been scarred for life, I fear.
