Was that the speed limit or the suggested speed through some of the corners?

The north side of the mountain is 35 MPH with plenty of troopers on the weekend. The south side is 45 MPH except for the top section.

When the road gets popular for recreation use, the speed limit drops. Even the tail of the Dragon used to be 55 mph before all the tourists came. I was on roads in east TN / west NC that were posted at 55 MPH and there is no way you could maintain that speed through some of the blind curves through the passes.
taken with a wide angle lense so things are closer than they appear.
