Before everyone jumps...this isnt ment to be an oil thread. I read some place on here that the t6 (5w-40 synth) wasnt good for our bikes due to it sheering down really fast.
What Im looking for is the oil test white paper someone did on the T6 oil. Im specifically looking for: how many mile before the oil change, and how far down it sheered too.
Thanks

Here are some Blackstone reports from a ZX14 forum:

Rotella, like Mobil 1, is not a real synthetic but is a group III (hydrocracked dino oil). These oils seems to to sheer down much easier than real synthetics (pao/ester). Then again, they have a narrower natural VI range and it is probably the VI enhnacers that get broken down.
Rotella (the current version) appears to break down to a 5-30 within 2500 miles. Interestingly enough, the wear levels are still ok, suggesting that these bikes could do ok with a high quality 5-30w synthetic oil.
Have fun reading them!

Thanks...thats what I was looking for.

This reply is not meant to bash any one oil, but do you think that if synthetic oil was the best thing to put in bikes that the manufacture would put it in the manuel to use instead of conventional oil? I have spoke to a few technicians and most of them say that if you do your oil changes as you should then you may be wasting your money on the synthetic oil. Just a thought.

Being a tech doesn't make one an engineer.Fwiw, I don't think the manual even says to use bike specific oil.

I'd use Rotella over any Dino oil. If I was rich I'd use Mobil 1 4T. I'm not. Rotella seems to be an awesome second choice. If it was $5-$10 more for Mobil it would happen, but $30-$40 You are out of your mind!!!
