Title: APB for Oregon & Washington RIDE - Sat 11/10/12 10:00AM
Post by: Gumby on November 08, 2012, 01:35:17 PM
Meet at Fred Meyer on Cornelius Pass, ride Cornelius Pass to 30 down to Westport, catch the Wahkiakum Ferry across the Columbia, highway 4 to 401, take the bridge into Astoria (lunch?), 101 to Tillamook, highway 6 back home or keep going. ~250 miles depending on where you live. If we have kickstands up at 10:00AM we can catch the 11:15 ferry. Washington riders meet us on your side of the river if ya like.

I will be riding two-up, so I will not be riding like I rode out to Tygh Valley, ROB & JAY. ;)

Sounds like a blast Gumbi but your timing stinks...  :(

I've got those roof and gutter guys coming out this Saturday and I need to be here when they're up on the house, I'd reschedule them but I've already had to wait 2 weeks for an opening in their schedule and it's way over due this time of year with all the rain, my gutters are overflowing like Niagara Falls to the point that it keeps me awake at night...  >:(

That looks like a good loop for you northerners :D

My windows for riding counts on a complex calendar  chart coinciding with a failure in someones part to uphold said plan. :(.....3 kids, horseback riding, gymnastics

I have an assortment of one liners I use to feel out the potential of a ride based on an ongoing ever calibrating  sense what the hell my wife has going on in her head :o....I gotta roll at the drop of a hat sometimes because that's just how it is.  Lately I've been using the one about doing recon for a piece of land somewhere. ::)

Dam iPhones record the future away from your right wrist before you can even fantasize about it.

To make a long story short, you folks are going in the wrong direction, can't go that way, I'll text you from Reedsport though, maybe next time.....next time.

I might be able to ride Saturday, although my rear tire is getting pretty thin.   I'll watch the weather, but so far it looks good, and I'm open.

You go through tires faster than I go through gear Rob...  :rotflmao:

I noticed that.  I guess riding a lot does that to em.  ;D

I do have a brand new set of PR3's in the shop ready to go (190/55 & 120/70), and a spare brand new PR3 rear (180/55).  I just won't have time to mount them by Saturday morning.  Plus, the cords aren't showing on the rear yet, so it's still good to go.  ;)

Jay, I am talking with Enos, he is thinking about dusting the cobwebs off of his Connie and riding Saturday.

Screw the gutters, let's ride...

Dude, I wish I could, definately sounds like fun but I just can't, my roof/gutters are beyond over due and we have 26 people coming for Thanksgiving...  :(

Enos texted me tonight too, something about selling me an AK 15??  :o :-\ ;D  I asked him if it cleaned gutters...  ;) :rotflmao:

What, you don't have a guy, to wait for the gutter guy?

Some people clean their own gutters too.   ;)

It's probably for the best, sounds like Tom wants to ride slow.  If you and I get together, we'd make Tom feel bad (waiting around for him at every junction).   :-X

Sigh,

Wish I could go, but I've got an installer appointment coming on Saturday at noon & need to be here for it.

Perhaps next time!

I always have prior to this house Rob, but the gutters are like 60'+ up there with the ground angle and the roof pich is like / ..... Trust me, I have no business being up there, hence why they are overdue...  :-[

They last time they were done was 2 years ago and the guys were harnest in repelling off the top peak over the pool.  :o

Care to share some of those one liners? Even after 35 years I can't tell what's going on in my wife's head sometimes.    :o

Tom, what do think the risk is for ice and / or wet leaves along those really shady foot hill areas up towards Vernonia?

There will not be any late tomorrow morning. Cornelius Pass is the easy way to 30, I would entertain running out to 47 through Vernonia to 30, make for a better ride.
Are you going to be at Freddy's in the morning?

I'll know in the morning.  As usual, it's going to be tight.  I'll call you if looks like I can get going early enough.

It warmed up to 32 degrees out here in North Plains and I am leaving for Freddy's in an hour. Is anybody else gonna ride today? No matter to me, I'm riding either way.  ;D
Their calling for nothing but sun on the coast.

Rob and I had a great ride today. A bit brisk this morning, 30 degrees going down into Claskanine, but that is where we saw our first bit of sun today.

Geared up and ready to ride.

Yes, it was a bit chilly crossing those hills south of Clatskanie.  It was a little unsettling railing those corners on wet roads, and looking down and seeing 30°F on the display!  :yikes:  Fortunately it was only that (non-corrosive) de-icer stuff they spray on the roads.  It's good down to 25 °F.  ;)

A couple of the pics I took with my phone (8MP).  First is of a couple connies floating down the mighty Columbia River.  Second is another shot of the Pacific Ocean, at the end of the Oregon Trail.

A close up of the Lewis and Clark monument, and one showing how cold it gets at the coast (taken in front of the monument).  Yes, that white stuff was on the sides of the roads too.  Also, PR3's don't grip well in it...
