Title: I miss my Concours....
Post by: Howard kelly on November 05, 2012, 08:39:55 AM
Some may recall my original post about losing a cylinder and a muffler that shot up to 450 degrees.  It turned out o be a stick coil that failed on my 40-ish mile ride home.  Mother Kawasaki is covering the parts for me under the emissions warranty as the exhaust cooked itself.  But the bike has been down over a month and a half, and sitting at the shop for almost four weeks thanks to a back order on the exhaust system.

Yeah yeah, I know I could put an aftermarket system on, but I actually like how quite the bike is, and I feel like it lets me go faster without being noticed as much.  The potential back order ends November 7th, so there is a chance I will have my bike back this upcoming weekend....I really miss my bike

Good luck with it!  This is the first bike I've ever owned that I prefer the stock exhaust too

Another reason why it is good to have more than one bike.   8)

I too like the stock exhaust on the Concours.  Came into a town a little quick and noticed a couple deputies leaving a restaurant and getting into their cruiser.  They never onced glanced my way.  Had my bike sounded like a crotch rocket they would have definitely taken notice.

^^^^+1 I love the stealth aspect of my 2011 Concours 14. The LEOs don't even notice her, and around town it's a pleasure for me not making all that noise.

Why not just buy another stock exhaust off ebay? You can usually get them for a song plus $300 for shipping due to the massive size and weight...  ;)

That really sucks to be forced to wait that long.  And it is not the first story on the board about people having to wait an unreasonable time because of "backordered" parts  >:(   At least it will be taken care of.... eventually.

I can't imagine it wouldn't be totally destroyed.

Have the muffler and mid-pipe, if you need it.

With my wife's urging, I sold my '01 Voyager because they stopped making it in '03 and she was nervous about me travelling the states on a bike with no support.  Now I am realizing that the new bikes have almost no support out there.  Makes me wonder if I should be getting trip interrupt insurance when I do a big trip.  I would hate to have to fly home and then ship the bike back home to get a warranty repair done.
