Title: Anyone suffer any damage with Sandy blowing through?
Post by: Bourne2Ride on October 30, 2012, 12:22:25 PM
I posted this on the "other forum"...
I'm one of those people that suffers from the lack of a garage. So I brought a Bike Barn, and for the most part it's been perfect. however during the hurricane the cover became a sail, and knocked over my bike. Right side peg broke in half (which leads me to ask, how do you remove just the peg and not the whole assembly). Some scratches on the right side where the bike fell against the porch, but the canyon cage saved most of it. There are also a few scratches on the bag, and the potato launcher; but it doesn't look too bad. It could have been worse, but thankfully not.[\b]

That's a sad sight for sure! Glad to hear that is wasn't any worse than that.

Tough luck. Was it on the side stand or the center stand?

She was on the side (kick) stand. The wind picked her up and blew her over.

Sorry to hear about the bike getting damaged. The launcher was on borrowed time anyways right?

There's an E-Clip on the bottom of the peg. Remove it and push the pin up being careful not to loose the spring.

Had something similar happen to my Goldwing a few years back. Had a half cover on it and the wind got under the cover and pushed the bike over.

I am right near VA Beach.  My Concours is in a Cycle Shell at the side of the house  http://www.cycleshell.com/ (http://www.cycleshell.com/)  No problem.  We did have gusts that blew off a piece of siding and blew my plastic desk furniture around, nothing like the last big storm, though.  I imagine if the wind did hot the Shell correctly, it could cause a topple (and unlike the thing you have, the Cycle Shell is completely enclosed (rigid plastic bottom) and connected.

Was quite windy, and almost 3 days of endless light rain.  Yesterday at noon it suddenly got really cold.  Last night the rain stopped and this morning there was sun.  But by noon it was overcast and now it is raining lightly AGAIN.  And it is still COLD!

Not cool. My bike was garaged thank god. Our trampoline put some miles on. It's trashed. The pool cover needs to be reinstalled too.

Sorry you had a little damage.

Best of luck to the rest of you that might be without electricity, etc.

We have to put up with storms on the Gulf Coast, but at least we don't get any ice or snow with it. ;)

Four years ago Hurricane Ike went right over my house.  I had to evacuate because we are near the water (near Galveston Bay just SE of Houston).  We came home and the only damage was a tree on the roof of my garage.  It poked a hole through the roof and this is what the hood of my three week old Z06 looked like.  Fortunately it washed right off.

My thoughts are with all of you in the NE right now.
