Hi,
sometimes I get to drive other bikes and I noticed that
a) I almost never use WOT (there aren't many situations that require it, and this bike's power scares the carp (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=11310.0) out of me anyway)
b) the return spring is kind of hard, so the effort to open gas is more than on other bikes, and it gives me the subjective feeling that the power is difficult to access.
I asked my dealer and he told me he can't offer me a solution, so maybe the elves here can? To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, twist the gas grip on a BMW K16. Yes, it's an e-gas, so it doesn't actually move anything but a pot, but that's the kind of amount of force I'd like to exert on the gas grip. Is this thinkable or too much effort for the actual benefit?

Martin, you know this was going to happen....
We've had a few members complain of this and I don't think that there was a resolution from what I can remember other than replacing the throttle spring with something weaker.

I feel your pain, literally. I feel like it takes too much pressure to hold open and it's hard to modulate, a "throttle tamer" helps a little but I'd sure like to cut a few coils off the return spring, if I could find it...
Anything that increases the grip diameter such as grip puppies helps the mechanical advantage.

I set the ThrottleMiester so there is a bit of drag. Not enough to lock, the throttle will still close if released, but just enough to take the weight off the return spring. Seems to help.

I fixed mine, installed a Rostra cruise control. Also get a GUHL reflash and you don't have to turn the throttle as far to go fast.

I agree that the spring is too strong. I tried a CrampBbuster but after watching that video of the accident in Chile that keeps re-appearing, I decided that it was time to install my Rostra and put the CrampBuster in the glove box. It's not the effort needed to go WOT that's the problem, it's the wrist pressure needed to cruise steady mile after mile when touring. The only thing that appears easy and reasonably safe is a throttle lock set just enough to lessen the pressure needed to maintain speed.
.....OK, I just came back in from the garage, I compared (subjective opinion not scientifically measured) WOT effort on the C14, the DR650, and the Honda Trail 90. The C14 and the DR seemed to be just about the same and the Honda Trail 90 seemed the highest.
I guess that makes sense as the Honda doesn't have a return cable like the other two do. Since the C14 and the DR seem almost the same maybe there is an industry standard involved here for throttle spring tension (non-eGas), and we just notice the C14 tension more because we like to ride it more and it doesn't come with factory CC??
