Just wanted to say hi- bought an 08 concours 1400 this fall. I have been a dedicated cruiser guy for a lot of yrs. I have been so very dissapointed with the low power output of these overweight monsters i thought i would try a sport tourer. Tried this bike and its absolutely awesome!! Took 1000 km to really appreciate it. Have been following your forum and received some good advice. Changed the battery in the rear tire- my electronics wiz son soldered in a new $4.00 battery- works great. Its a geat bike to have- even for an old guy.
Many thx to all- Mat

Welcome aboard!

As you found out, long as you are not contaminated by "the lifestyle" (which seems to dominate the cruiser class), once you try a bike that is fast, quiet, smooth, comfortable, efficient, modern, and reliable, like the Concours, you will wonder why you spent so much of your life on anything else.

yeah- thx. i could never buy into the sound of power vs actual power. i'm really an 80's V4 power cruiser enthusiast, but keeping the old classics running is quite a task, and the fuel tanks are just for cruising around town. i plan on using the 1400 for mostly highway trips. I should have bought one sooner!

Welcome, glad you like your new toy...... put a Two Brothers slip on pipe muffler and K/N air filter on it and wake it up!

Or leave the stock muffler and enjoy the same power but with less noise and zero cost!  (Yep, wouldn't be complete without the Maxtog response)

I agree with max' (on this, anyway)

For most it's just the grown up (?) version of this:

Hi Mat, come on in!

"I couldn't resist." Jeff (the picture of the Welcome mat)   :rotflmao:

Sooner or later somebody from someplace like Arizona is gonna tell you the '08s throw too much engine heat back at you and suggest fixes. This "problem" may be one of the bikes better features on those cold Canadian mornings.
