Opened my right saddle bag this morning to grab the liners for my riding gear (getting cold in the mornings), and 2 screws fell down into the lid. Looked around and quickly discovered they were 2 of the 8 that hold the latch assembly to the bag. They look like a stainless screw, with a Phillips head and a soft rubber washer.
Might be prudent to check yours, next time you go into the side cases.

Well it did take 2-1/2 years, and almost 32K miles to vibrate them out. Doesn't look like there's any kind of thread locking stuff on them either.
The rest looked okay, but they still easily tightened at least 1/2 a turn. Probably just re-compressing the washers.

You'all need to check out the new BMW's I heard they have tight screws, or is that those that ride them are screwed ........ tighter ..... gee I don't remember now.

I would check the fairing stay bolts as well... Both of them were missing and I noticed it when my headlight/mirrors were vibrating like crazy.

Me too, 62,000 miles and my header nutz haven't loosened yet and i keep checking them

Bought mine with 13K on her. I found a bolt in the left bag and wondered where and what that was from. A few days later I pulled the bags to see what it looked like without them. That's when I figured out where and what that bolt was from. It was one (the last one) of those.
So a good note is that even with no bolts in there if the bag is latched on the bike and the latches are not sloppy they will stay on..
