Title: Pinstriping the Kawasaki lettering on the faring
Post by: JeffM on September 02, 2012, 08:46:38 AM
Was considering pulling off the big chrome Kawasaki lettering and having that pinstriped instead. Does anyone have a pic of what this looks like by some random chance?

Another option would be to buy a nice subtle decal made for other Kawasaki models.  My Ninja 1000 has a gray decal that would likely look good on many of the Concours colors.  In fact, I wish I had thought of that before myself.

When I first bought the bike I pulled up to someone's house and he said "Is that a 250"
He said that it was sooo quiet that he thought that I must be a small motor , stopped by another and the guy thought it was a  scooter!
I then added a ZX header and Two brothers duals , don't have that Issue anymore.
How about 250 Ninja, a real sleeper ;D

So in that word a vehicle has to be loud to be powerful, fast, or impressive?  Yeesh.  I will take quieter any day!  Anyone stupid enough to mistake a Concours 1400 for a scooter is hardly using half a brain cell.

It's funny you say this. I was thinking 'Having it lettered like the Kawasaki logo from other bikes", but never thought "Oh, just get a sticker for it.'

Hey Max Two Brothers mufflers make three sizes of reducers that install in the end caps, so you can have no reducer or a reducer of your need, with smallest one that I use it is quiet . I ran it with out reducers and It was to loud for me .

I don't "worship" it, but I don't mind it.  It is a BIG presence :)

Before my bike every left the showroom I had the head mechanic remove all of the Kawasaki emblems, all I run now are the ABS KTrac decals on the front fender.  will probably take those off soon.  I like my bike to reflect my profuile name Sinstr, the license plate reads 2SINSTR since this is my third Connie and the first was Sinstr.

When I had my bike painted they photographed the lettering and with a computer created stencils with a stripe around them. This may answer your question.

Sinstr: Do you happen to have a pic of it without the lettering?

phil: Really like that! Roughly how much does it cost to paint a bike anyway?

Thanks so much all.

I guess I should have asked 'Roughly how much to paint a bike a solid color?'

I know adding detail to it will bump up the price. I always figured a burnt orange, rust, or copper color would look great on a Connie.

I was pretty shocked, I took all 19 pieces to the shop only to be given a price of $2700, we had talked about a lower price but by then I was committed. I will say they did a perfect job that shows no signs of deterioration.

Ouch. Thanks Phil.

20  years ago I had a helmet custom painted that I really liked, but it really didn't wear well at all.
