Title: Newbie. Horns? Gimme sometin else beside stock?
Post by: robert.h.weinstein on September 01, 2012, 12:31:31 PM
2012 Connie 14 ABS in Sac Calif.

Bought a Stebal and crappo! There ain't not place to mount it. Inside faring nor outside on Shocks.

Kawa used up every piece of space on that darn thing.

Is there anything loader than the oem MEEPER horn (db generated is still unknown) that can be mounted in its place?

Thank you all :-)

I bought a small Attwood boat horn from Academy, and put it in place of the original. It's about the same size, weatherproof design, and marine horns are rated to be heard for one mile. It is a lot louder than stock, and lower toned.

PIAA 85112 115db 500HZ + 600HZ Sports Horn

Remove and replace apparrently

Each 10 db results in doubling the sound volume soooo...

So if your suggestion (105 db) is better than the OEM than the (115) db Piaa would be double yours?

Hmmmm?

TY

Pepboys has a 132 db Low Tone Fiamm that fits nicely. You do have to remove the rubber bushing since the Fiamm mounting screw is shorter. They also have a High Tone version but not sure what it sounds like yet. I had purchased a set for my wife's previous car, but we traded it before I got a chance to mount them. What luck...who knew that I would have to replace the C14 OEM tweeter after only 4 days.
