Title: The clock on my Classic has a mind of its own
Post by: Charliedog on May 25, 2011, 10:02:03 PM
So far, no other symptoms.  When I turn the key off on my 2000 the clock display goes blank, and when I restart the bike the clock resets to 1:00 pm.  Happens every time, but the bike starts and runs great.  The wires are tight at the battery terminals.  Any other ideas?  Is this an early warning of j-box problems?  At the moment I'm four states away from home on the way to Salt Lake City for the World SBK event.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  TIA

Check your fuses ;)

If near Denver (check my profile for a map), gimme a shout.

Ditto what Rick said.  I bet your fan isn't coming on when it gets hot either.

Thanks for the tips.  I'll check the fuses tomorrow in daylight.  BTW the radiator fan did come on more than once today when the temp gauge needle hit the middle-normal operation.

Right on guys.  It was the accessory fuse.  All good now.  I wonder if the relationship between the clock and the accessory fuse is somewhere in the owner's manual.  If it isn't, it should be.  Thanks again for the heads up.
