Title: New Baldwin Grand Touring Seat
Post by: Xelvic on August 26, 2012, 04:16:13 PM
They say it's new on the website. It looks more like the Russell but better looking in my opinion. Anyone try it yet and can comment on how comfortable it is?

I'd guess that's the owners bike. Search the forum for Loren or Baldwin.

It looks like Loren's bike, I sat on it at the Eureka Springs rally, his seat yellow highlights but it sure looks the same. I'd ridden my Corbin up there so my butt was very sore but his saddle was truely comfortable. Also looks like a nice rack..... ;)

I have a Baldwin sport solo and a Russell Day Long.  i've also sat on that seat in that picture.  If Loren had been making that seat when I got my sport solo, I might not have the sport solo, and I'd only have one seat, not two.

All that said, the Russell is an excellent seat.  I think it gives more support for longer than I think the Baldwin MIGHT, but that's pure conjecture on my part having not ridden the Baldwin GT for a long distance (or ridden it at all.)  I love my Russell for the long hauls, but the Baldwin lives on the bike over 90% of the time.  You will not experience better customer service than you get at Baldwin.

Have one of Loren's seats, the GT version, I believe.  Put it one just before making the trip to Eureka and all I can say is, wish I'd done it sooner.  Although it's only ~165 miles from here to Eureka, there was none of the "burning" sensation that I'd always have  with the OEM.  After riding the roads of Arkansas for a week, then coming home to the home base, having the Baldwin has certainly made it more fun to ride.  Just my .02.

Love my GT too, I am however going to send it back to Loren this Winter for a small modification.

Just talked to him on the phone and worked out the details. Looks like I will be impatiently waiting for 6 weeks for my new seat. Hopefully no more fire butt!!  ;D

Trying to decide between this seat and the LAAM. The LAAM seems to be a bit narrower for planting your feet. I am inseam challenged.

I just completed a 7,000 mile trip on my Baldwin seat. No problems at all. Best seat I've ever owned. Did some 600 mile days with no numbness.  butt got a little sore sometimes, but that is to be expected with any MC seat after 600 miles.

Awesome that's what I want to hear. I start getting fire butt after about 30 minutes of riding.  :'(

very nice seat, I have a off topic question but what are the bottle cap looking things on the bag locks?

Some people will add hidden keys glued to the bottom of plastic buttons to alleviate the need to pull a key out to use the bags.
