so is this common? I dont care, it's so fast and awesome i can deal with a little oil leak. But its such a bitch to access the valve cover.
I made some highway peg's for the land shark, if anyone want's pics, i can post or send them.
Ive seen 155 on my odometer, and not in the driveway, and it was doing a bit of wobbling. anybody else experience this. It's probably poor suspension setup on my part.
I'm riding to montana's glacier nat. park on friday, aug 3rd, wish me luck(and no speeding tickets).
no speeding tickets ended up being wishful thinking.

Yes, the leaky valve cover is fairly common. I had mine replaced under warranty.

Leaky valve cover is common, 8K on an 08 is not. The motorcycle God will take that thing away from you if you don't ride it more.
While your in there replacing the gasket replace the header nuts with fuji nuts also.

To prevent other catastrophic events, I suggest check/replace the battery in the FOB.

FYI, I have replaced 4 valve cover gaskets, 3 on 08 Connies and 1 zx1400, common fault.

^^^^my Zx14 went in for so many valve cover leaks I dumped that bike, Kawi never could get it right on that one.

I had mine replaced at 12,000 under warranty and looks like its starting to seep a little again.

Mine's been weeping for a while. Probally since the last valve adjustment 17,000 miles ago.
I just ride the thing. The oil level doesn't go down between oil changes and I never smell buring oil.

What he said. Some types of oil will leak out of the gasket, while others will not. Try some Mobil One high mileage synthetic. Worked for me.

At least Hardly-Ableson owners don't have to find leaks acceptable these days. Neither do I, I'll dump my C14 just like I did my ZX14 if it turns into a leaker

^^^^my Zx14 went in for so many valve cover leaks I dumped that bike, Kawi never could get it right on that one.
It really helps to clean out the groove with a qtip then run a bead of yamaha gasket (or any other dealer gasket bond) then set the new gasket in the valve cover and leave for an hour and reassemble.

8)Your all right, 8k is criminal, but now i have a speed citation(well deserved) and over 13k on odo.
I bought the" land shark" with 5.7k on it in November, and been riding with a bunch of hardly abelson's for some time(Anyone who can ride a motorcycle around a corner without parking it first, please call me(roger, 916-600-1601/ sacramento area), as i find falling asleep on rides with my friends(except Mike Elder) kind of a buzz kill). Seriously, I passed these guys in neutral with the engine off down a twisty decline to the oregon border on hwy 129 from Lewiston, Id.(awesome fun) . if anyone in the sacramento, Ca. area likes the twisties at speed(relative to a 700 lb. bike), give a shout, i would enjoy riding with some other Connie owners, or enthusiast's, as it were.
I still have my cbr929's from my younger day's, but they are a bit cramped these day's. I acknowledge the run on paragraph's, but I'm a rider, not a writer, just sayin.
I noticed nobody commented on my ? about the speed wobble(dirt bike ish) over 120mph. maybe pavement, my loading of bike, lack of skill, or?..I will check frame/wheel alignment for previous damage.
Glacier nat. park, and hell's canyon were very cool, I hit some amazing road's on this ride. My son(17) rode my klr650 with us and we switched bikes often. while on the KLR, some very fast Australian's passed the hardly's on Ducati's, and I rode with them thru an amazing stretch of twisty hi speed hwy 12 between Missoula, Mt. and Lewiston, Id. They were quite surprised when the KLR showed them a tail light and disappeared around the bend. We talked later and shared a good time talking about the ride.
I saw 47mpg on the connie a few times, but mostly 30mpg or so because I'm always on the throttle hard. The KLR got 60mpg riding with the hog boy's. OK, sorry,blah blah blah, I'm out.

Just a friendly suggestion... write three sentences max, then start a new paragraph. It's a lot eaiser to read online that way.

not true.....the last 2 HD's I've owned (05 FXSTD/07 FLHX) both suffered trans output shaft seal leaks. The softail did it twice, it also leaked a from the primary cover seal. Seemed a little too acceptable to the service dept.

Oh...thanks for correcting me. I should've said Hardly-Ableson CLAIMED to have plugged their leaks =)
KiPass has protected my '10 bike from any issues for 60,000 miles thus far
