Finally made the move from the C10 to a nice 2008 -Life is Good !

It actually belonged to a Cogger who switched over to an 1800 Gold Thing ..go figure.
Aside from a little front brake pulsation ,my only issue so far is the abrupt on / off throttle transition-seems to accentuate
the driveline lash and makes me a little less than smooth in the curves. Guss there's something to be said for the analog
feel of soon to be extinct carbs.

I installed a G2 Throttle Tamer on my sons 650 Ninja , which had a light-switch off idle action,and it made a noticeable difference there .
Has anybody here tried one of these on the C14 ? Is it an improvement ? Or has nobody else felt the need for it.

Maybe I just need more practice to get used to the feel of it.

Try taking up any throttle cable slack. This should help shifting too

Congrats!  As a new to me 08 owner as well...give it some time.   The low end of the Concours 14 felt abrupt and difficult to me for the first while as well.  After a thousand miles, no problem.  This does not mean its right, or better. I just got familiar with it.  I do believe the fuel maping is not great, btu I dont want to be without the bike for the time it takes to remap..no big deal, I will soon.

I had a 2006 FJR1300 for a while and I got rid of it because of the abrupt throttle.  No control in corners.  I bought a used 08 Connie.  I started with an 87 C10 for a couple of years.  I went back to a 99 C10 after having an 03 Goldwing (no lean angle, front engine guard very sturdy).  My 08 has a PCIII and a Two Brothers Exhaust.  It is seamless.  I also ride a 2011 C14 daily and it is seamless.  All that power in lower gears will be jumpy.  Use the friction zone.  As mentioned, take the slack out of the throttle.  I have not ridden a stock 08, so I can only attest to my experience.  I have found that it is best when you ride it "angry".

I had the same problem/complaint about the Concours.  Removing throttle play helped, but the bike is still VERY twitchy compared to my previous bike.  Still trying to get used to it.

I agree, it's definately twitchy, but as others have said, you get used to it with time. Best fuel injection bikes I've had so far was my 02 R1 and 05 Speed Triple, they were damn near perfect!

Don't know if they made an adjustment on the 09's and up but I haven't noticed anything like that on my 09. When I got it I came off a Gold Wing and there was a difference in the throttle response but I got used to that real fast.

Do you know if the previous owner removed the flies?  If he did remove them and didn't add a PCV (or equivalent) you could take care of some of that abrubtness.  I noticed mine was just a little more abrubt off throttle than stock, but the additional power more than made up for it.

I installed a G2 Throttle Tamer on my 09 after taking the slack out of the cables and it helps the off idle abruptness a bunch. Much smoother. I would recommend it.
