400 mile farkle test today
« on: June 25, 2011, 08:08:19 PM »
Well, I bought my 09 ABS new last fall as a leftover model, and since then I put about 2k miles on her over the winter and spring mostly just commuting etc, just no time or good weather blah blah blah to really get her out for a leg strech... I did farkle away though since I bought her.

Finally today I took her out for a decent rip, put 400 miles (approx 300 of this was unfortunatley highway) on her today going up to my buddies new cabin up in Washington. (No Cannonball Brian run for sure, but the longest one I've done on her so far  :) )

Here's some comments on how some of the new farkles worked for me...

- Corbin seat was awesome, my butt was never in pain.

- Throttlemeister worked great, I would use it for about 5 minutes or so to strech out my right hand from time to time, that 5 minutes here and there gave alot of relief for me.

- Kawi tall windscreen, kept her up the whole time on the highway, very nice protection for me, I'm a short guy though (5'8").

- Scala G4, tunes, gps directions, and even had 3 different phone calls doing about 85 down the highway, awesome!!

- H.A.R.D radar detector led light in helmet, saved me twice!!  :hail:

- Nuvi Garmin 765T, worked great, I loaded up my SD card with a bunch of tunes last night for the built in mp3 player, was able to use this while riding with my gloves on and had no problems at all, at all! The gps would interupt my music automatically to tell me of upcoming turns and when to turn etc.

Everything on my Connie worked very well, no problems at all, I'm sure I'm forgetting about some other farkle I have that came into play on my ride, but these ones are on the top of my head...

I'm looking forward to keeping this bike for alot more enjoyment, I'm happy!

Didn't really get any great pics, this is just at a rest stop, but still thought I'd share...

Nice set of farkles, great report. And I do like the full stealth mode look. Very cool!

20 farkles and 2000 miles, now you need to have some more high mile days to catch up.

Your bike looks great.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

Hey ZG -

Not to put the thread back on track or anything  ::), but how do you like the Nuvi 765T? I broke my trusty Nuvi 660 recently, and have been thinking about picking up a 765T. I'm not about to drop $500 to $800 for a motorcycle specific GPS. It looks like the 765T does what I need, and I can pick one up at a reasonable cost.

Also, I'm torn between the Scala G4 and the Sena SMH10. How do you like the G4? I'm leaning toward the Sena, but sort of on the fence still. So many farkles and yet so little time / money / etc.

Thanks - Dave.

Thanks for pulling us back in Dave!  ;)   :hail:

So far the 765T has done everything I wanted out of it, I too wanted a Zumo but the $ is just crazy for them...  :o

I don't usually ride in the rain, so no issues there, the sun glare can be kind of a bitch sometimes but I find myself mostly listening to it with the G4 not looking at it, if I want to see something on it in "direct" sunlight a simple shielding with my left hand seems to do the trick. I picked it up on ebay for really cheap! I love having the built in mp3 and it sends music to my G4 in stereo, all good!

As for the G4, again no complaints. I too looked at the Sena, many folks really like em. The selling point for me on the G4 was the built in FM tuner, I use it everyday in town when commuting! And when I get out in the boonies where radio is limited then I switch over to the mp3 on the 765T, love the technology these days...  ;D 8)

Good luck with your farkle hunt!
