Day 1 - 330 miles. Done riding for the day. Unfortunately I am done in Burns, OR so there will be no pictures. If you have ever been to Burns you know there is nothing here to take a picture of, and nothing to do either. So I will rest in the room with beer.
-
Sounds like a great trip! Have fun sir.......I am officially jealous of anyone that gets to ride in the PNW and the Rockies... ;D

So how is the newly installed (the day before the trip) reflashed ECU and full Muzzys dual system doing?
How's mama doing on the back? Is she comfy on the Corbin with backrest?

Keep it at cruzin speeds and the Muzzy's are barely noticeable. Drop two gears, crack open the throttle and I can make the guy on the Harley behind me cry.
3rd day both of our @$$'s get sore and tired after 200.

Day 4 - 85 miles. We did the scenic Teton Park loop. Not a good day for pictures, too much smoke from the wildfires in Idaho.

Beartooth Hwy is a great road. Ran into rain a few weeks ago and stopped at a little place called 'Log Cabin Cafe' for a really good soup and salad lunch, less than $10 and outlasted the wet stuff.

Mac, I skipped breakfast in West Yellowstone thinking this is about half way and it would be a great stop for a late breakfast early lunch. Boy was I wrong. If anybody is in this area and hungry I suggest you go a mile or so East to Cooke City. The service was absolutley terrible and the food was worse. The highlight was the roll with the soup and salad, I bet I could of thrown one of those things from left field to home plate, and you know its bad when you have to go in and ask for your credit card back. Oh well, the ride made up for it ten fold.

Day 8 - 400 miles. A stop in Great Falls for a milkshake, and one stop to get a picture of the Crazy Mountains.

So we made it to Cut Bank, MT to spend the night, now we can enjoy our Sunday in God's country - Glacier.

Sorry to hear that. My experience was the complete opposite. Great food and good service. What a difference a couple of weeks can make. Looks like I owe you a beer.

Great pics Gumbi! My wife is looking and she says to tell you that she's jealous! Me too!

Day 9 - 220 miles. Best day yet for scenery. Carrie can't believe how it gets more and more beautiful everyday. We went from Cut Bank up to Babb and did the 12 mile road to Many Glaciers then back to St. Mary to do the epic Going to the Sun Rd through Glacier. Found a home in Whitefish to unload the bike then a quick trip to Kalispell to see the town. Lots of pictures today.

Glacier is so awesome we are going to stay another day. We're gonna go back over Logan Pass the opposite way then run the South side of Glacier on Highway 2 back into Whitefish. Stay tuned for pics.
Looks like another great day in the PNW.

If you have the time stop at avalanche creek ( its on the lake McDonald side ) not a bad little walk but the water running through and carving the rocks is very cool. Also look for the big horn sheep and more mountain goats at Logan's pass.

I took this shot between Whitefish and Kalispell

Day 10 - 210 miles. Jay, I bet I've rode more in the last ten days then you ride all year. :)
Stubby, I went through Avalanche creek area, but after slerickson thread on the Bear Attack I was not about to leave the bike. Cause we was packin samwiches each day.
Not really liking this Photobucket app. After I crop and enhance pictures on my phone it uploads the original. I will have to fix pics when I get home.

Ya hate to say it but she is better at taking photos just saying....... I have been over that road twice in cars next year is the time for the bike. Thanks for reminding me of why I really like that place.
If your going to Sandpoint you should have to come through Bonner's Ferry nice little town and while your still in Montana going along the river you will see signs for some falls ( can't remember the name right now ) but its a nice little walk and there is a swinging bridge if I remember right? Good times in that part of the country.
Safe travels

We are stopped at McGregor Lake lodge for breakfast and there is a moose wandering around across the street. There is a calf out there but it laid down. Carrie is so excited to finally see a moose.

Hey Dave thanks for the tip but I going to go Route 2 skipping Boomers Ferry. I am hoping going through the forest will be more scenic and a better ride.

I have all that C, but do you see the size of the rock? That is the size of the hole, no patch would hold air long enough to get me 12 miles.

Carrie found a little bracelet charm turtle right after she stepped off the bike. She says it was good luck and kept us safe.

Not so sure I would recommend this, but it works. I was stressing for 12 miles, and it got worse with every bump. Kootos to MCEnterprises and their well built tip over protection.

Well got a new tire and we are mobile again. I will tell you this though, not a good idea to break down in Sandpoint, ID. If you do don't deal with Diane at the Yamaha shop, she just charged me $260 for a Diablo Rosso II tire and then 1.25 hours in labor. With tax I just paid $375 for a new rear tire. Rant complete.
I am glad we are safe and still riding.
-
Here is the culprit for this whole ordeal.
And I also have a busted tire pressure senser. I don't know if riding it up on the flat bed did that or the kid that changed the tire broke it. It makes me wonder though cause he asked if I had the manual when he took it in the shop. How do you accuse or prove that? I don't, aaarrrgh.
Does anybody know if it will cause any problems with the computer to ride without the senser?

Day 11 - another 200 mile day. Long day after waiting on the side of the road for tow truck then bickering with the $&@"$ at the Yamaha shop.
Gonna take tomorrow off from riding. Going to go play at Silverwood Amusement park.
-
Oh, I know better. I know its fast enough to beat the rain to Sandpoint.
Scratch that, she's fast but there are two things you can't out run, Mother Nature and radios!
-
Tom & Carrie, Sorry about your breakdown. Brings back my motorhome days. All the breakdowns and expenses I had on the road. Sure I'm enjoying following your trip. Would like to do it on my bike someday, before I'm to old. Where is Silverwood Amusement Park?
Dad

Dad
you will need to buy a bike with a motor in it. That pedal thing you ride is not gonna do for a trip like this.
Silverwood is South of Sandpoint.

I don't own a Connie........YET, but I been doing a lot of looking and getting my Triumph Rocket III ready to sell or trade, whichever comes first. I just wanted to tell you, great thread, great pics, and great ride. I wasn't sure about highway pegs on a Connie but from owning cruisers and taking some long trips, I was gonna find a way to get some on there, by the way, how's those highway pegs????
LOL,
John

$375 and a broken sensor? Nice...
-
Good thing we's packin samwiches. Tow truck gonna be an hour or so.
Be careful packin samwiches...... Just saying. 8)
Oh, did you not see that rock. :o Glad you had AAA.
-
And I also have a busted tire pressure senser. I don't know if riding it up on the flat bed did that or the kid that changed the tire broke it. It makes me wonder though cause he asked if I had the manual when he took it in the shop. How do you accuse or prove that? I don't, aaarrrgh.
I thought about this all night. The kid handed me the valve stem and pressure senser when he was standing at the tire machine. If that was already broke the valve stem would be long gone after loading the bike on the flat bed, driving 12 miles, and then unloading it. Hmmmmm. I called our friends in VA this morning (the ones that offered the extended warranty) and the sensor costs $187 and labor to install and program it to the ECU is $180.
I am waiting for that shop to open this morning. How do you think this conversation is going to go?

Oh I KNOW how it's going to go and I'll bet that it won't be your way... That's gonna be one hell of an expensive rear tire by the time it's all said and done. :o

Well it went better then I thought, only because I bit my tongue and walked away after she sat there and told me she was out in the shop watching the kid as he changed the tire and the valve stem stayed on with nothing holding it on from the inside. Hmmmm
Gotta pick my battles, not gonna let this one ruin a great trip.
You are correct Conrad, a very expensive tire.

That's the spirit Tom, don't let that rock, and the Yamaha shop, ruin your great trip.

:( Ugh... Sorry to hear about the flat Bro, good thing for the AAA indeed!
-
Wow! I cannot believe how bad the yamaha shop bent you guys over! There is no way that you broke the sensor, just by getting a flat and riding the bike onto the flatbed. It is obvious that he either hit it with the bead of the tire or a tire iron. I wouldn't care what the manager said, I would have went postal if they treated me like that. Absolutely uncalled for! [rant over]
Great pics, looks like you guys are having a memorable trip.

Jeremy she was the owner not the manager. I mentioned to her it was not a good way to run a business, but she told me she does not come to my shop and tell me how to run it. Yes, it was hard not to go postal on her.

Day 12 - 75 Miles. Good day to hang out in a theme park. I think I like riding my bike more than these roller coasters though. It lasts longer then a minute and a half. Hard to justify an hour wait for that quick of a ride, but still fun.
Hung out in the lazy river the majority of the day. I feel and look like a burnt raisin.

For some reason I thought this ride was called Vortex. Wrong park, this one is called Aftershock. Fun ride but the big wooden one called Tremors is more fun.

Shout out for 2nd Avenue Pizza in Sandpoint. Home of the 7lb pizza. We got a small I think it weighed half that.

Great RR .. really liked the pics in Oregon riding the Gorge (page 6).
Is that the C. B. Ultra tour windshield? The dark tint is awesome. Would look good on my 2010.
I have the same trunk and was thinking about getting the luggage rack as well. How much weight would you say you had stacked on it and was it a wind catcher ?

Ya, its the CB Ultra windscreen, I love it.
The luggage rack was great for this trip. I zip tied the sleeping bag to it. I try not to put to much in the rear trunk and I would not strap anything more than a short case to the rack :). As far as wind, hard to say when I was riding two up.

Great thread, read, and pics Gumbi, thanks for sharing.
