just got this month motor cyclist mag today. seems kawasaki has had a replacement on the drawing board for the zx14 for awhile now. 2012 maybe. the new zx1500 supercharged, not turbo. possibility of the engine being based on the kawasaki 300x watercraft! which is a 16 valve 1500cc inline 4 with supercharger and intercooler rated at near 300 bhp.
all together now,,holy s**t!!!!!!

All together now: WTF for ?
Are they trying to be the new V-Max widowmaker ?
Nuts.
Just my $.02. Ride safe all, stay off of this thing.

I know I would love to take one for a test ride! I might not live to see the end of it but I would go out with a smile on my face!

Mmmmmmmmmmighty interesting...... my throttle hand is twitching already.....the roll-on performance should be outstanding!! ;D
Hopefully this will trickle down to the C14 too. I'm sure Mother Kaw is a bit miffed by the BMW K1600....

Kawi has already disclosed that they are upping the displacement from 1352 to 1440cc for 2012, so I doubt they would be building a bigger motor AND supercharging it. I'm definitely looking forward to what they unveil on 10/10 though!

What I am interested in is what will transfer to our C14 motor????
Widow maker? Heck, what we have is already capable of that, it's what's between the ears, not the legs, that keeps us alive.

+1: its a constant battle of the wills for me...the itch to push or the desire to play it safe...constantly reminding myself to "drive to arrive," playing "what-if HE pulls out in front of me." I'm excited about a new connie in 2 years. My 09 will go to my son and Pappa bear will get the new... let's see what Kawi releases, bigger engine would be interesting, but not sure it alone is going to bring it into the same category as the BMW 1600. Everything I have read leads me to believe they have different "riding-sectors" they attract.

the article says that 4 new patent documents reveal that kawasaki is working on a supercharged four cylinder motorcycle as a potential replacement for the zx14. one document titled " two wheeled motor vehicle with supercharger, covers the overall layout of the bike. the superchagrer is located behind the cylinder block and underneath the throttle body, and gear driven directly off the crank shaft..

So you can be the first to the scene of the accident... :P

I wonder what they will do with it? There appears to be an unwritten agreement that 186 will be the top speed, so it will be interesting to see how they try and sell us on a 300 hp bike.
I dont think we'll see the supercharging for a while. I believe this bike will have traction control and more displacement.

I too could care less.......... ::)

It'll "only" do 186 mph, BUT it'll get there in 1.27 seconds. ;)
What's the next step going to be, a 3,000 pound-thrust rocket engine? Personally, I'd trade a 300-HP engine that gets 40 MPG for a 150-HP that gets 80 MPG. Why can't they do that?

Hiolding a throttle open in a straight line for top speed is..... well nevermind, I'm guilty of such squiddish riding on my old ZX14 ;D
