Here's where it was left I believe. Go Get it.

I don't know much about the exotic world around town, how about a little clue now that we're back up & running?

I don't either...I'm too old now. If you want to see dancing at this one you'll have to do it yourself...it's been closed for quite awhile. Oh, and it's pink!
-
Cool, glad to see this has been started back up!
Now, what kind of tag is that to put up when my gf is out of town?!
-
Sure am glad to see this is up and going again! I will get after it when I can, this year is starting out kind of tuff again for me.
-
The old girl has her high beams on and is ready to dance at Jake's in Coates.

I wouldn't want this viscious looking machine coming after me. It's now resting in a park.

Say it ain't so - You did not have another get off, did ya?
-
Ahh.... Yes I did it was on my self propelled cycle this time. Don't know what I hit (it happened early morning b/4 dawn on my way to work) but when I came too I have 5 broken or fractured ribs, a shattered clavicle and massive blood clots in my left shoulder. I'm told 6 weeks for the bones to heal and 6 months on the blood thinner, this is for the clot.
-
Bummer Lonerider. I broke my leg skiing a couple of years ago. I had a blood clot form, undetected, which almost killed me when it let loose and traveled into my lungs. Pulmonary embolism. Then a weeks worth of pneumonia. Then six months of blood thinners which made drinking almost completely off limits. The good news is I lost a ton of weight.
I feel for you. Do what they tell you, especially the physical therapy and good luck!
-
Veteran's Memorial Park just east of Shakopee
-
If you rode in the 70's you've been here.
-
Lonerider,
Sorry to hear about your mishap. Listen to the doc clots are nothing to mess with.
-
Hey Jeff. Very sorry to hear you are banged up again........this has to be very frustrating! Hope to see you out and about sooner than later. In the meantime, you know how bad it is for ANY motorcycle to sit there unused and unloved. I would like to selflessly offer my services to exercise anything in your stable whenever you feel it is needed :grouphug:
Waiting by the phone.........(tongue securely in cheek) Brian

Does Denny ring a bell????????????

Wow, sorry to hear that. Were you riding on the road or on a sidewalk? I have a friend who broke his collarbone a couple of years ago after going over the handlebars, and he's a fast guy who was on a race team (although his getoff wasn't during a race or even training). It happens to even the best.
-
Thanks Guys!
Brian: I go out and talk to the bikes regularly They are not being neglected. But thanks for the offer.
Crashcup: I was on one of the on road bike routes and it was a downhill so I was moving pretty good.
The Other Brian: Thanks for the encouragement, my wife is a nurse so I am Being convinced to follow Dr's orders. wink wink

In this long-running thread from before, I did not see many WI locations. Do WI riders play too? Kinda hard for me to get from Milwaukee to MN to play but I am willing to try during the Summer. :)

I tried to move it to WI a week ago, but someone beat me to it. I'll keep trying though. WI has some great roads. It was too late the other night.
-
Lonerider, I share your pain. When my old C-10 and I kissed the pavement I ended up with broken clavicle (which had to have a plate/screws), 10 ribs, torn rotator cuff & biceps tendor, some internal bleeding, and other "minor" dings. Thank goodness for helmets, gloves, jacket, etc. Spent 5 weeks at home and had two follow up surgeries on shoulder related things. Heal fast without pain brother!
-
Tagged. The old Sport Wheels location, Jordan MN.
Yep, picked up parts there a few times, and also used to ride some of trails around here.
It was a nice day to get out for a 2-hour lunch ;D
New tag soon to come....

New tag:
Hope this isn't a repeat of an earlier tag......
This is a neat spot. I feel like going back just after dawn to get a picture in better lighting.
-
Bueller......?
Bueller.....?
-
How about a little hint, there are a lot of barns in Minnesota.
-
Lonerider, sorry to hear about the incident. Get well and heal up fast. Things happen. The only way to minimize accidents is to stay under the covers and never take any chances. Of course, you miss most of the good things in life and end up dying as a bored, dull person. I think I'll take chances instead. I haven't had any near death experiences since Sunday. And no, it wasn't on a motorcycle. Sometimes even fishing can be extremely dangerous. I'm still here and so are my friends, so it's another good day.
Hope to you you riding soon.
-
How about a little hint, there are a lot of barns in Minnesota.
This one is Googleable.
-
Very easy to find with Google-FU
I don't believe it was ever done on this board.
-
In this long-running thread from before, I did not see many WI locations. Do WI riders play too? Kinda hard for me to get from Milwaukee to MN to play but I am willing to try during the Summer. :)
The Sconi riders are a little thinner on this side of the state (numbers wise, not girth). I did put the tag in WI in the past, down in the SW area.
-
Hint #2 on the current tag:
It's down the road from a store that sounds like it might have green walls, but doesn't.
-
Crap. My google fu totally sucks. I got the city, found other pics of the barn, I get the green clue, but still no joy. I'd really like to go for a ride and grab it, but stupidity keeps me home.......... :-[
-
I'm not sure if there's rules about how often to post hints, but I feel bad about you not getting out for a ride, Brian! (Not that ya really need a good reason).
Hint #3:
This tag is also just a short distance down the road from a spot where the local canines can freely run and frolic and play together.
Now, gotta go fix a sump pump in a cat-stink basement. :-\
-
Here's the barn with all the weird statues surrounding it on Cty Rd 47 in Plymouth. I have good Karma now and road blissfully for another couple hours.

This bronze man sits and watches quietly over one of our favorite city lakes.
-
Kinda reminds me of Gort the sentinel from the Day the Earth Stood Still :)
-
Tried a loop around one lake at lunchtime... the bronze dude was not at the same lake as me. Not sure I'll have a chance to look again before the weekend.
Where's everyone else?
-
Waiting for a hint........
-
The lake is named for islands.
-
Finally, one in the 'hood.
Tagged. Lake of the isles
Boy you musta been on their lawn though Don, otherwise my camera just must stink.
I'll try to get a decent photo for the next tag...
-
Well done. I actually had to go across the street and then use telephoto to get Gort and my bike in the same frame.
-
Ok here's the new one:

(Googling) Ah!
Well if it's good enough for Ringo its good enough for me.

Us drummers have to stick together...
-
Okay, I finally get to claim one, after following this thread for quite awhile. I'll have to post a new one tomorrow as I didn't think it would still be open by the time I got back from up north. For those of you wondering, the tag in on the corner of CR 15 and CR19 in Navarre. The Narrows is a bar on the NW corner which has good food and great music. Stop in sometime. Stay tuned for a new tag tomorrow, if I can get my act together.
-
No new tag?
Where's my excuse for a long lunch break?
;)
-
Finally a new tag! Good luck with it. Had to make two trips as the picture was too big to email from my phone camera the first time.
-
This is going to need some clues.
-
I think I've got a bead on this one....
-
It's a little obtuse, but I can give some clues tomorrow, unless Crashcup has it already. Okay, one clue is that it's near a semi famous hamburger stand.
-
Not too obtuse. I thought I recognized it right away. I've been to Lion's Tap a few times.

Cold, are you in the EP area?
-
Ahoy! This be the next tag:
-
Brother of Gort??
-
I live in EP, just about 1/2 mile west of the high school off Valley View. You from EP also?
-
The new tag... I had hoped there would be some interesting info to find about the diving company named on this statue, but no luck. My hints will need to of a geographic nature.
First, have to say to be careful getting a picture here. It's on the corner of a residential street and a busy four-lane. Got my pic on the way home to Maple Grove from the spring tag.
(Cold - I used to be in Victoria until a recent move, have worked in EP and right now in Chan, so I'm familiar with the area)
-
Hint#1:
The defeat of Lt. Cnl. John C. Pemberton's forces at this city was a turning point of the civil war, giving complete control of the Mississippi River to the Union.
-
Understand the clue - but need more. :)
-
It's in the same city as the last tag I posted - the barn.
-
Back in the game.....
Vicksburg Lane and 9th Avenue N. in Plymouth
I will post a new tag later today.
-
Welcome back, you beat me by two hours. Guess I shouldn't have stopped at Fletcher's dock...
-
As promised...... Now go for a ride.
-
Very Googleable. Now to figure out when I can ride out that way....
-

Yea, I tossed you guys a softball.
-
Yea, I tossed you guys a softball.
Thanks, cause I forgot my glove :o
The Linwood Cafe, right up dare off 35 a ways.
-
The next one is more accustomed to targeting than being the target.........
Old hardware deserves an old format 8)
-
How about a little clue as to where this bird is targeting now?
-
Ok, it's hovering at an airport north of the Twin Cities.
-
Let me know if I need to narrow this down more.......gonna be on the brewery tour Saturday.
-
Narrow, narrow, narrow.
-
Kovanen Field........narrow enough?
-
Got it.... If it last til Saturday, I may get it and have breakfast too...
-
Carlton County Airport aka Kovanen Field
Moose Lake MN
Did not make there on Saturday. If I had there was a fly-in pancake breakfast on Saturday morning.
New tag will be posted this evening.
-
Here is the next one .........
Now go take a ride.
BTW ....Your Google Fu will work on this one.
-
I guess my Google-fu class didn't teach that move. ???
-
Yup. Indian sculpture with paddle in MN turns up zip. Google is always easier when you already know what something is........
At least there isn't a lot of FRIGGIN RAIN lately :o
-
Ok I can take a hint - you want a hint.
The statue is not an indian. Think fur and canoe.
-
Ah, so. Good hint.
My lovely domestic associate and I were planning to go out that way tonight or tomorrow. May be able to nab this one.
-
Found it! On the main drag in Pine City by a frisbee golf course. This worked out nicely cause I ran up to Dennis Kirk this morning to pick up some new rubba for the Strom. I may not have a new tag till tomorrow.....short on time right now.
-
 Nice day for a ride today, Brian
-
OK........easy to get spot off the metro loop........might even be able to find this on Google Earth if you search the 494 perimeter areas. Sorry I didn't have time for something more exotic.
-
Early to bed means early to ride!
Schlomka Excavating on Carver ave. Nice obfuscation too Brian, even knowing where the sign is, I still can't see the place in your photo where you removed it.
Easy to see from the highway but I bet I drove thru half of Newport to find the exact spot
For those who have never been: I recommend the heck outta Carver ave (crappy pavement aside) Great riding road!
-
Looks like all MN stuff......
-
Looks like all MN stuff......
Yup......that seems to be the case, but it has been in Sconny before. Come and get the next one and drag the game east!
-
Yup......that seems to be the case, but it has been in Sconny before. Come and get the next one and drag the game east!
We need to work on that.......
-
Please do!
Roadkoan.............got a new target yet?
-
Yep!
This ones west of the cities though.
-
That's going to need a hint, or two.
-
Hint #1: west of the Twin cities.
Hint #2: There is mini-golf.
-
Yep!
This ones west of the cities though.
Cool picture! And good hints....

Interesting... will have to come back for a round of putt-putt sometime.

New tag:

I have the feeling someone will recognize this place. If not, I have more photos for hints.
-
I actually have time to get out a ride some today for the first time in a long time but don't have a clue where the last tag is. :'(
-
Hint, hint.
-
There is no mini-golf here.

Okay, since it is such a beautiful day, here's another one:
Behind the giant head, behind the fence, is I-35. Not W or E. And closer to BackInTheSaddle than it is to 2fast.
Also, be aware that once you find out what/where this is, the photo tag of the Tijuana Taxi is not visible from the road, you'll have to go up the driveway. But there's some cool junk to see along the driveway.
-
Found the Tijuana Taxi rusting out in a junkyard/antique lot in Lakeville. What a place!
-
You will find this giant bunny relaxing alongside an "Indian road" in south Minneapolis.

-
Found the Tijuana Taxi rusting out in a junkyard/antique lot in Lakeville. What a place!
Nice find!
For anyone who was looking, the place is called Hot Sam's Antiques. Depending on your interest in old stuff, it's a pretty cool place. I want to go back and take some time to look around more.
They have a caboose and another old railroad car on rails. In an old article I found, the son, one of the proprietors, said he eventually wanted to have a whole train alongside the driveway! But he said the city of Lakeville "pooh-pooh'ed" that idea. "They have no imagination!" Hahaha.
-
The big-azz bunny in S Mpls.
On Minnehaha Parkway just East off Portland.
-
New tag:
After taking her kids to leave gifts for the Minnehaha bunny, a South Minneapolis mom might stop here for a light lunch.
-
I think I know where it is, unless you meant to post a different picture.
-
Nope, the Bruegger's fire station is the one.
-
That's weird. When I looked at this yesterday, the picture was the same bunny in So. Mpls. I was sure you had accidentally reposted the same picture.
I know where the new one is, but probably won't have time to get there before someone else.
-
You're right; I did accidentally paste the same bunny pic, but corrected it within a couple of minutes.
Let me know if anyone wants hints. I meant for this to be pretty easy to keep the game moving.
Keith
-
No more hints necessary. I used to live about 7 blocks from there, although it was still a fire station back then at 46th & Nicollet Ave. Fun to see the old area again and it led to a ride around the lakes with my son. Great way to start the 4th!
-
Did you ever have a playground like this when you were a kid? It stands on a "Cliff" south of our state's river overlooking a wildlife preserve in the south metro.
-
Oi! Couldn't help but drive by this one: Skyline park on Cliff Rd in Burnsville and my work is at the top of the hill in the right.
-
We need to work on that.......
Mike, if you can get one of the MN pics, I will get WI back in the game if we tag team. Let's restore this thread to WI glory once again!
:)

Yeah, I seem to read that a lot here.... Where's the action to back up the words? :stirpot: ;)
-
O.K. guys this ones in Minneapolis down-town proper. They used to have some really nice Wizard of Oz graffiti but right now it looks like this:

Oh, and there's a dead cat across the street...

You Cheeseheads are more than welcome to play here and its been known to have a tag on the other side of the river, but if you don't want to wait there is this one http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455304 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455304)

Point of order: Isn't there a rule that all posted pics must be current, and not pulled from an archive? In recent days there are a couple of pictures with bare trees, obviously not taken in July (or June, for that matter). I thought one had to actually go from one tag site to the next.
Is my memory faulty, or is there no honor among thieves?
Just curious; no dog in this hunt,
Jerry Roland
-
Jerry,
Unfortunately the rules were lost when the forum went belly up, but I believe the new or next tag can be from the archives. I think this was allowed so the next tag could be posted sooner.
-
That's how I remember it too. To collect a tag it has to be a current shot, but the new target can be from archives.
C'mon Jerry, you can play too!
-
the new target can be from the archives.
Well, that's no fun....
-
...
Oh, and there's a dead cat across the street...
Well, the dead cat doesn't help me much. Do we get another hint?
Or does someone already have this in their sights?
-
Yeah, I seem to read that a lot here.... Where's the action to back up the words? :stirpot: ;)
Crashcup, I have a picture of a black 1948 Walker tank that I dying to use here. I took two weeks ago while my step-daughter was having her wedding shower. Just had to do something else for those 5 hours. :)
Tanks are rather easy to find, but why'd did this city paint their memorial Black? hmmm....
You Cheeseheads are more than welcome to play here and its been known to have a tag on the other side of the river, but if you don't want to wait there is this one http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455304 (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455304)
I may have to go play over there, T.O.B. Thanks for the link!
-
Well, the dead cat doesn't help me much. Do we get another hint?
Or does someone already have this in their sights?
how 'bout:
It's one of the first roads in Minneapolis.
-
Regarding rules: as I was the original poster.
The tag has to be live but the new tag can be archive.
Lets see that tank
Jerry are you going to be at Soldiers Grove?
-
I just happened to be downtown yesterday fixing a sign in this neighborhood and saw a rider in black leather and bluejeans on a burgundy Connie cruising the streets.
Anyone here?
You were so close...
-
Well, the dead cat doesn't help me much. Do we get another hint?
Or does someone already have this in their sights?
The cat in question is the third largest cat overall, but the largest in the western Hemisphere...

With the right key words it is googleable.

Good tag and you didn't know but that was the very first Tag.
Leave it up if we continue the Dejavu, Roger needs to go tag it.
-
I have the location, and the bike.....but not the camera. :-\
I thought you can never use a tag twice....hence the challenge to keep it moving around rather than repeating? Oh rule gods...what say you?
-
I figgered Jeff is the "godliest" authority on this photo tag, and he said leave it. But I can post another if desired. (There's a reason for a long lunch break).
For others who don't know the tag, here's hint #1:
The buildings behind Ol' Bessie are a creamery. It's located in a town that has the same name as the creamery.
Keith
-
I know where it is too........
I think all bets are off on the past tag history since it is no longer available for reference. New forum, new game. IMHO
-
No need to change tags because I found Bessie out in Norwood on Hwy 212.

That was a fast turnaround. Out for a long lunch Crashcup?

That was a fast turnaround. Out for a long lunch Crashcup?
Yep, kinda bored around work lately. The lull between project phases. But, I just heard the mgmt approved the next 2 phases, so we'll probably get very busy after a week or two.
That was a good get on the cow. You must have had that one in your sights before I gave the hint.
-
Time for a hint? Anyone heard of Bill Austin? I used to work for his company in Eden Prairie. That company also has a manufacturing facility in the same town as the current tag.
-
I know Bill! my sister used to head his sales dept.
Did you know a Chelsea?
Which means think I know where the tag is! However I am leaving for vacation this morning and I'm going southward so Its not gonna be me who tags it. :-X

Ha ha ha nice work KENT it probably took you longer to photo shop that than it would have to drive here :o

Met some spacey dudes on the road...
-
Cool. That would make a good photo tag!
But... While I'm no expert at this, I think ya gotta tag the current one first.
I don't know if more hints are necessary, or if it's just too hot for riding. Anyone who goes out to get it can sit down in air-conditioned comfort for a nice pizza buffet.
There, that should be enough hints for anyone. :)
-
Nobody out riding? :o
-
Is that in Roswell, NM?? I was recently in that town on my x-country ride and saw all sorts of crazy stuff like that
-
Finally got out without feeling like I was in a sauna, only to get caught in a thunderbuster around Chaska. Road as far as Waconia without spotting the tag (did I pass it?) and then got turned around by heavier rain. Clues are in order.
-
Okay, taking previous clues a little further:
Bill Austin -> Starkey Labs -> what town out West of the cities has a Starkey facility? (it is the county seat in McLeod County).
Sit down in A/C comfort for a pizza buffet -> How many of these are in that town?
And no, you didn't pass it Don. Go West, young man!
-
Well I have to run out west to exchange forms with one of my seasonal staff, I guess I better ride a bit farther and get this tag to get the game rolling again. Too bad I can't head out until after a mid-afternoon meeting.
I should be able to post some pics this evening.
-
Yay, go for it, Thomas! :chugbeer:
I'm wondering if the timing would work... if this game gets moving, and I could snag one late in the week, I might drag it into WI on our way out to Vermont Saturday.

Sorry for posting the tags as a link rather than imbedding the images but it is getting late and I'm not going to mess with the additional efforts of posting the photos elsewhere.

How in the world did you figure that out Don? Did you recognize it as a place you had been? I didn't have a clue and was waiting for some. But I'm pretty sure I know this one, now to get out there....
-
My marina is just down the street so I pass it every week and noticed the lake through the trees in the picture. I also attend a wedding there a couple of years ago.
-
Impressive Don. I guessed I'd probably have to throw out a clue or two to go with that one but you surprised me. It is a beautiful property and we're in the midst of updating its cultural interpretive plan (i.e. what we out to do to it to improve people's experience and education on the site). If you ever get the chance to attend an event where the barn on the north side is open I'd encourage you do it. The family was well off enough that the barn's siding has mitered corners and other niceties. It was one of the first gentleman estates to be established on Lake Mtka in the same days as when the Lafayette Club was becoming the first big hotel destination at the beginning of the lake's gilded age.
-
It's been two weeks, anyone needing clues? Or just time to ride without melting???
-
A lot of the usual suspects have been at the the COG National rally and my riding has been to the north. My guess is you will see some action soon.
-
...and un usual suspects. ;)
-
Don, I just got back into town, and may try to grab this soon.
If I do, I may take the next one a good bit out of town. I still have some catching up for two grand tours I'm doing!

Well I finally got a day to ride so I took a trip down to Canterbury Park and found the current photo tag. I think it was a lot more crowded today than when you were there Don!
-
And for the new location...
-
Main St and Norfolk Avenue in Elk River
-
Here ya go!
-
Nuttin to go on in that photo. :P
-
Givin Up already and ya need a hint ....
The sculpture/monument or whatever is located in a town in a state where the cheeseheads roam. The town is named after an evergreen tree and a body of water.

From that hint I would say you have been double dipping on your motorcycle games :)
-
You said "water". That got Jeff's attention. It's like a disease. ;D
-
Yep, It's a stop on the Grand Tour.
I know for a fact Jeff has this one. I was with him when he got it.
-
I haven't checked in here for a while. And I'm no closer to knowing where this is. (and I've been to a lot of "water towns".
-
Since it's been 3 weeks, I was wondering if anyone was still playing.
So to get the game moving:
The sculpture/monument or whatever is located in a town in a state where the cheeseheads roam WISCONSIN . The town is named after an evergreen tree BALSAM and a body of water LAKE.
-
Very subtle, Brian :P
Could have got this yesterday, but now will have to leave it for someone else. Just don't get run over by a herd of slow-moving Harleys on the way out there!
-
Two and a half months and no one went after this tag, must have been the difficut hint. Didn't want to see this tag get stuck here all winter so took the bike out on a nice brisk sunny day for a ride that brought me to Balsam Lake for the tag.
The new tag brings it closer to the metro area, the sign says Ignatius Donnelly's Nininger City Home. I became interested in this area after reading a book (Idiot America) that had a feature on the people who tried to develope the area. So go for a ride and learn a little bit about Minnesota history.
-
Way to go Randy! :)
I was hoping the tag wasn't going to have to spend the winter in Balsam Lake.
-
Got out to the city in question at about sunset but could not find the plaque before darkness set it. A "bit breezy" heading out there today with the wind gusts across the farmland. Hopefully another warm day will give me a chance again.
-
Glad to see the game is still on! I've just been too busy to play, but I'm glad to see it back in Minnesota. Those Wisconsin guys weren't very playful after all!
-
Tagged! Ignatious donnelly was the talk of the town in Nininger. A legend in his own mind;/ Interesting stuff Randy!

Sorry about the photo link with no thumbnail. I am trying to learn how to use my new ifone. Anyone have any tips to offer on photo posting that would include a thumb? This was done with Picasa....
-
Would anyone object to moving this game over to cog-online? There seems to be more activity over there and it might get moved around more often.
-
I follow both so it would be ok by me.
-
Ok with me too.
-
How about some hints on the stacks before the snow flies?
-
OK Don,
I added some clueage over here.......consider it moved. http://forum.cog-online.org/index.php/topic,30814.0.html (http://forum.cog-online.org/index.php/topic,30814.0.html)

Hmm... I thought there was a pretty big hint right in the picture.
Then again, I dont know where it is yet; maybe it's not as much help as I think.
