Lets talk about tires
« on: December 05, 2012, 03:12:14 PM »
Anyone here have or had the Battlax BT45 on the front? i just put one on and was wondering how many miles can i expect to get out of it, 97% of my riding is on flat ground freeway highway.

Right when ups handed me the tire it looked like this tire don't have as much tred on it as my last tire, avon roadrider so i dont think this tire will last as long. even though the tire is the same size as the last one it just looks smaller..

On my last BT45 front tire I got a little over 11,000 miles. Of course I changed it before it was totally worn out.

Do a search and you'll find lots of discussion about this tire that indicates this mileage. That's why I went from the Storm/Azaro to the BT45's. So far, so good with about 2,000 miles and looks new.

I put a set of BT-45s on at the beginning of this year.
5050 miles do far.
The rear is almost done with less than a sixteenth inch
of tread depth left. I'm hoping to replace it with something
that will last longer; mostly commuting miles.
The front, however, still has a least an eighth inch of
tread depth left and plenty of miles to go.
In addition to decent life, the tire exhibits even
wear across the tread with very little evidence of cupping.
Overall, a pretty good tire with excellent straight line
stability and very neutral handling if somewhat heavy
turn-in.
Given a choice, I prefer a tire with a little better feedback
as this tire requires a fair amount of faith to go fast
but it performs well when asked, with no surprises.

When I bought my connie about 2 1/2years ago it had a relatively new bt45 on the front. I matched the rear and I have put about 12000 miles on them. They held the pavement way more than my comfort zone and ability (read...holy crap! I thought I was a gonner) Yes they saved my bacon.
The rear is below the wear bar now but not a complete skin. The front still has tread but is cupping somewhat. I just wanted to finish off the tire with the season.
Would I recommend these tires for handling and wear life?
Yes.
Would I buy them again?
Yes.
However, that being said I am going to try something different this time.
