Captain Bligh was not a pirate.  He was the captain of the HMS Bounty.

Why do we glorify pirates and make them objects of fame and entertainment?  Pirates were (and are) assholes, murderers, plunderers, rapists, etc.  They were (and are) the scum of the earth and the punishment used to be the right and proper use of death by hanging or other means.  So when did piracy become "cool"?

Hey, we legalized it (privateers) when it served our interests.

Lots of people who are assholes, murderers, plunderers, or rapists get movies made about them.  What do you have against pirates?  (Or are you just a Phillies fan?  ;D  )

That's OK, he wasn't a Captain either, at least at the time he commanded the HMS Bounty. He held the rank of lieutenant and commanded the Bounty at the time of the mutiny.

The people who took the Bounty from Bligh's command were not pirates either, they were mutineers.

How about Eddy Teach? I think that we can agree that he was indeed a pirate of the first order.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that when GP spoke of inviting Cap'n Bligh he was referring to another Cap'n that most of us know of, and it wasn't Crunch either.

Nah, those headlights are probably already beyond upgrading- some folks confuse quality with quantity. Still, might be a pretty girl once some of the excesses are troweled off....
