I also remember that someone used to put a baby or toddler running shoe on the exiting stand. They said that by doing this they did not have issues with it sinking in hot asphalt or soft dirt. They would get a pair for a few dollars and then have a couple years out of them before needing to replace them.
that was the infamous Jimmy Miller (Millerized), he had the "shoe" on his Conni, and also his Dinosaur-Emulated KLR (painted with Rhino-liner, textured, and green...)
It was always a hoot to see what color shoe he would arrive with at each rally/ride, somtimes it would be a red tennis shoe, or I believe he had a yellow one, and a blue one.....looked hilarious all laced up, like a little leg.
anyway, they worked great, and provided a lot of smiles.
