Here's a pic of my Mother Inlaw holding a hummingbird... it landed in her hand when she was holding a flower.

How to tell the sex of a bird

Until now I never fully understood how to tell The difference Between Male and Female Birds. I always thought it had to be determined surgically. Until Now.

Below are Two Birds. Study them closely...See If You Can Spot Which of The Two Is The Female. It can be done. Even by one with limited bird watching skills.

When the bird got it's fill from the flowers it flew up to my face and hovered about 6 inches away from my nose. It hovered there for about 5 mins, just looking at me and then flew off.

Hey short stuff, any chance that you or the wife remember what color shirt (and hat if applicable) you were wearing when that happened??

I sure do. I had a bright yellow t-shirt on. The reason that I remember is that my wife said that maybe I look like a big yellow flower to the hummer.
