silly tire question
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:11:50 PM »
The only difference between pre 94 and later bike tires is the front rim correct? What is the stock size for a pre 94 bike? Did a quick search but came up short. My old man wants to buy new tires for my 86.
Thanks in advance.

That question is not so silly.

I have a silly one: Why does the tread on my Dunlop Elite 3 tire have tread that angles inward instead of outward like the rear?

I would think you should channel water away from under the tire.

There are tire ads from Bridgestone and a few other that show this tread alignment also.

Just wondering...

This may sound stupid, but, the tire is going the right direction, right?

I had the same question when I picked up my first set of Michelin Pilot GT's after mounting. The tech that mounted them pointed out that the DOR, (direction of rotation) arrows on the tire were correct and when I remounted them I saw that when seeing the tire on the bike at the point where the tire meets the road it does push the water away from the tire.
From the top you are seeing it 180 degrees from the contact point.
After seeing this I wondered why the rear tire seemed to be the opposite.
