When a FOB is missing

What would need to be changed in order to get that bike to start, since the FOB is MIA?

I don't know about a motorcycle, but should be the same concept as cars.  So, first you need to contact the dealer, order or buy a FOB, then bring the bike to a dealer, then they will program the FOB with the bike.  That should do it.

Sometime, the module might have to be replace along with a new FOB.  This is rare.

Lastly, you can always call the dealership and ask.... ;D

It would need a new ECU and the fobs to go with it. Without at least one operating fob there is no way to turn on the ignition to program in a new fob. I would ask a dealer as well.

IF THERE IS NO EXISTING fob THAT WAS PROGRAMMED TO THE ECU, YOU WILL NEED A COMPLETELY NEW ECU, and associated FOB, and you can then program additional FOBS.
It takes a FOB matching the ECU to allow programming additional FOBs.
sorry.

The ad also states they don't even have any KEYs for the unit, which would make me say it is a HOT POTATO..... ???

Don't you also need the FOB number that was on the plastic bag it came in? As I understand it, and I could be wrong, that number is needed to program a new FOB and the only place it is listed is on the plastic bag it came in.

I believe you are thinking of the TPS...not fob.

If you have at least one working fob that you can use to turn on the bike, you do not need the serial number for that fob in order to program the bike to work with new fobs. Any new fobs that are to be used with the bike WILL need the serial numbers so that the bike can be programmed to work with that fob.

As stated above, if you have no working fobs then you're SOL till you get another ECU with at least one matched fob.

See the attachment below for info.

Sapevate che senza pila nella FOB key è sempre possibile l'accensione del motore.

Did you know that without a battery in the key fob is always possible to the ignition of the engine.

Looks like the above video needs a matched fob to make it work.   :o

Without a battery in the fob you can start the bike with the rfid part of the fob held against the ignition switch which is what the video shows.  Good info for the newbies that don't read the manual.
