Yeah, and I recognized the set-up for the joke as soon as I read it. Just trying to do my part.....  ;)

Offtopic: (as if wooden tires are 'On topic' anyway)
Back in RI- got in Sat. morning about 2:30 AM. Just over 7K miles for the trip and just now starting to feel normal again.

SpotWalla has the trail for the trip home here: spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php?id=30444dfbaf665dece  Set the data chain to go back two weeks or more to get the whole trip on one page.

Few things I noticed from the pics.

1.  Odometer reads 009999 as the total miles on the bike.  Not sure what kind of tire comes stock on the FZ6, but I doubt it came with the PR3's or that he had them installed to replace the OEM tires the day he took delivery of the bike.   As such, the tires likely have a good bit less than 10k on them.

2.  The tread on the rear definitely doesn't look like it has 10k on it.

3.  Look closely at the center sipe of the tread - between the chunks it's almost worn through and gone, but if you look higher on the tire (just below the shadow) it appears to have plenty of depth left.  Leads me to believe that section of the tire that chunked wasn't cured properly which is the likely cause of the failure.

Does the FZ6 have dual tripometers?  He might use one of them to keep track of mileage on his tires.  Just playing devil's advocate.

Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

Interesting situation...I don't know why this guy would lie and say he had almost 10k on these tires, if he was fishing for a lawsuit he could have said they only had a few thousand, 10k is lot.  My last bike was an FZ6 though and even the el crapo stock tires barely showed any wear at 8k.  Its a real light bike without any torque.    It does look like he got a bad batch, but scary it was both the front and rear, not just 1 bad one.  He mentioned it was a very hot day so I wonder if the tire deformed all at once or if he just didn't pay close attention.  Also, I believe the recommended rear pressure is 36-42 and he said he ran exactly 36, so if he was a big guy it may have been a bit low + very hot road = bad.

I'll still probably get a PR3 rear to match my front when its time.  I'll just pay closer attention.

That is what I was thinking, but the indicator has two zero's in front of it and trip meters don't go that high. Also there is a trip meter on the right.

I just bought a pair last week - both made in Thailand.  :(  The front PR2s (still on bike) made in Spain and rear Thailand.  Wan't it the Thai PR2s that had some issue last year?

Wasn't that TJ Hess? I just checked and he's no longer a member here, unless he's using a new name.
