Mounted New PR3's Today WOW! What A Difference !!!
« on: June 09, 2011, 07:02:10 PM »
Guys,

I got the new pr3's today!  ;D 8) ;D
I had put 7,200 on a set of PR2's and they were wasted, I had felt them slip front and rear at different times
when I pushed them hard, which is very un-nerving.

I feel the same WOW factor from pr2 to pr3 as I did when I went from the Bridgestones to pr2's
The turn in is effortless now!

The pr3's feel very soft though, I cannot believe I will get as many from these as I did the pr2's.
Also the tps is not as accurate in this tire at least so far, strange :o

I'm sure they are a great tire but anytime you put new tires on your bike it will feel alot better, no matter what tire you use, wait until you get some miles on it and see how it holds up.

I do realize this is a first impression after only a few miles.
Anyone else have a couple thousand miles on the pr3's yet, if so what are Your impressions?

I've got about 3000 miles on mine at this point.  They still feel as good as when they were new.  They seem to wear the same as the PR2 (more wear on the sides) but that's to be expected with the dual compound.  I expect to get about 5000 out of the rear before it's toast, which seems to be about on par with the PR2...maybe a little less.

I had about 1,500 miles on my PR3's when I stopped riding the bike and started riding the Mean Streak. It's been really hot and humid the last few weeks!
Anyway, I like the PR3's so far. They have great grip and turn well in the dry. I don't feel they're as good as the Pirelli Angel ST in the dry. But they are still very good. In the wet, they are the best tire I've used. The Angels and PR2's were both very good in the wet. The PR3's are better. The question still arises on how they will wear down the road? But one thing is for sure. They are night and day better than those junk PR2's I tried!  ;D

I have 2500 on mine, there still perfect. The rain riding abilities are incredible. My pressure doesn't seem to vary more then 3 lbs with temps from 35 to 98 here in VT. So far the best tire Ive ever used.  :)

Still waiting to get mine.  :'(  The front has been delivered, the rear? Ordered them two weeks ago at the local dealer, after multiple calls from me, the finally took the time to contact the distributer. The rear  been on backorder but will ship to the dealer on the 15th...maybe. Same issue with PR2's, plenty of fronts, no rears in the C14's shoe size.
As of right now I have 8300 miles on the oem 021's, the rear tire looks like I can get another 1k out of it, the front, not so much, should have been replaced at 7k.

Congrats on the new tires. Although i'm a huge fan of Michelin, the "WOW' factor is a result of going from slap wore out tires to fresh new ones.

I replace my PR2's long before the "tread wears out" because turning and braking performance is the most important things to me. usually around 5000 miles.

I like when I hear people say "I went from (worn out/hard) XXX brand to XXX brand and wow they feel so much stickier (its mostly folks going from PR2s to Angels that really believe this) haha
