I'm heading to Vegas in Oct, can anybody recommend a good business to rent from? Not too fussed on the bike assuming it can go 2-up and eat miles.

I think I'd have to go with the MV as well. Beautiful bikes.

$200 a day?   :yikes:  I've never rented a bike before, is that considered normal?  Is that for a guided tour type package or just the bike?  If that's normal for just the bike rental, I would REALLY have to be jonesing for a ride to do that unless it was for some sort of one of a kind experience.

I'd offer to rent my bike out, but I just can't go without it, particularly on the weekends.

In the bay area often a big nice bike (BMW HD MV) rents for ~ $150 a day without GPS Helmet Gloves ....

I have seen smaller japanese bikes for under $100 a day.

Check out http://www.eaglerider.com

I've never used it, but they seem to cover a lot of cities including Vegas.  It does look like all bikes run $150+ a day.  Its a lot, but when you think about it for the risk of having people rent motorcycles and the maintenance of the fleet it probably isn't totally unreasonable.  When I was in New Orleans a few months ago they were renting mopeds for $30/hr so $150 - $200 for a day for a motorcycle doesn't seem bad to me.

I also say rent something you've never ridden before.  No one rents the same car as they own when they are on vacation.

Thanks to all for the input. I agree, its money well spent for going for a all day ride with friends who you don't normally ride with.

So switching gears a little....does anyone have suggestions for which roads to ride?

I'm told that Northshore Road / Valley of Fire Highway is a good ride.
I enjoyed the Mt Charleston loop (157/158) and the drive to and around the Red Rock Canyon (159)
Also, Mt Charleston is a blessed relief from the unrelenting heat of Nevada.
Usually at least 15F cooler than it is in Vegas.

I'm sure someone will pitch in with some longer rides.
