was there ever a definitive answer on if going to this tire size on a ABS/TRAC bike will mess with anything??...

No,doesn't affect anything in a straight line but sure allows the bike to turn in quicker. 5 mm higher profile tire in the center.

Before the 55's came available we used the 180's to turn in better than the 190/50s on our track and performance bikes.

Personally,I think that 190/50 tire is a better choice on a X-country trip.....I too, am going with 190/55 on my next tire change, but I'll be playing mostly in PA Appalachian Mtns. IMO.

Not for me, I eventually come up on turns or have to swerve. 

Even on my X-country trip i will be hitting extreme twisties, such as the million dollar hwy through Rocky mountains of colorado.

Well, I'm no expert, but 190/50 is much flatter in the center, which should distribute the wear better, IMO.

I just ordered PR2s for MY x-country trip.  Thinking it will be around 12K miles.  Hoping to get it all in on one set.  Wasn't sure of HOW the pr3s would wear.  Chickened out!

Not to hijack this or anything, but for you guys that do your own tire changes, is dealing with the TPS difficult?  I stopped in my local Cyclegear shop, and he told me that he couldn't do my change because I have the TPS, and he couldn't change it without damaging it. 

I just thought that strange.  I am going to buy the no-mar set up when I get back from vacation, but am worried that it might be more difficult that I thought.

Thats odd with the Cyclegear thing. I just had a PR3 installed at my local cyclegear without issue.

I'm on my 3rd set of tires, always swap them in pairs.  I've done it myself each time with no TPMS issues.  Just need to be careful where you start and end the mount / dismount, so the tire doesn't snag the TPMS.

My guess would be the CycleGear store owner had a tire monkey trash a sensor, and he had to buy it.  After that, made a rule of no more TPMS equipped wheels.

.......hmmm sounds likely!  Cyclegear is a national chain, weird that they couldn't help me!

Colorado 550.....That will be fun for you.  I will be going through there in the middle of July.  Hot but fun.  :)

My friend is running pr3s in the standard profile and loves them.  I'm sure you will too.

yes sir the 550 is the reason I'm going to that state!  may run across you when I'm there in July. Hoping to see another member of this forum there as well. I'll post up when i get there.

I just got done ordering a set of PR3s from Murphs. I can't wait to ride on the new rubber. This set of Bridgestones aren't holding up too well. I am approaching 8,000 miles and almost to the wear bars.
