Why, all it will do is make someone break it open to see what your locking up! You can break that flimsy piece of plastic with just about anything!   :D
Personally IMO, I think just letting them look inside and see that there's nothing  valuable is probably the better way to go. I never had anything stolen out of mine.  ;)

You really need to lock up your pack of gum?

It's ridiculously small and my tankbag is always on top of it. I keep some air in mine to make the bike a little lighter and that's about it.

I think it's a valid question, it's big enough to hold a garmin.

No way would I ever store anything in there that was worth more than a pack of gum, I sometimes do keep my wallet in there while I ride though.

I don't see somebody trying to break open something with a lock visibly on it for a 5 minute store stop, but I do worry about somebody simply popping a garmin out of the cradle in that same senario... When I'm in this situation and don't have my luggage on I just put my garmin in my helmet with my gloves and take it with me. A lock on that compartment in that situation would be nice IMO...

Key fob and a pack of gum....all others would go into the bags.

Greekwarlord,

After re-reading this thread. I personally wouldn't find a need. But I can see how someone may find a need for they're personal position. But unfortunately, I can remember anyone trying to install a lock on the 08-09 glove box. So I guess the answer to the question is no. My apologies for sidestepping your question with my opinion only!

Even with a lock, I think I could be in there in 30 seconds with a flat-head screwdriver. I'd never put anything in it that was valuable (and my Zumo550 wouldn't fit).

Tank bag is much larger, more portable and more convenient in my opinion.

Mine needs 2 hands to open, so unless you know the trick it's as good as locked. Never had anything stolen.

Let's face it, none of the locks on our bikes are very secure, so give the guy a little slack. By adding a lock to the glove box, he's merely keeping the honest people honest. I can remove and break into the saddlebags just as fast as I can break into a locked glove box. The locks are there to deter people, not protect your valuables...

I agree 100%.  Keeping honest people honest is all it does.

I made my own risers which also locks the glovebox when you lock the steering
