Console buzzing
« on: May 31, 2012, 05:53:23 PM »
So I'm searching the site for the buzzing instrument panel fix, cant find it, and now need one of the dedicated SA's here to post the correct link with a properly snide comment please.  Mine has the "right at 3k rpm's" buzz that I can no longer stand. A KIPASS quip would be appreciated, and something to do with oil viscosity would make my day perfect..  Gracias!

I made mine better by snugging up the hardware.  Much of my noise/vibration was from the plastic plate under the windshield.

The buzz on my bike was between  2500-4000 rpm, used a piece of 1/4 x 4" rubber under the dash plastic to eliminate the buzz.

Possibly this....

Could also be the front black plastic under the screen.  Some people have taken that off and put a piece of foam tape under it to stop the buzzing.  Can't tell you exactly because I've never done it myself.

I'll look at this.  I thought I had read at one time that someone had opened it up and shimmed the board in there somehow but darned if I can find it.  It sounds like a sewing machine!

I get confused between what was posted on the old site vs the new as well.  I'm going to do some data mining this weekend.  Maybe I'll be able to find some more info on it.

My annoying vibe noise was the mirror on the left side. I tightened the already tight screw on the bottom, and it seems to have stopped. The color matched part on the front was the issue.

Now I'm feeling better!  If I press hard on the speedo side of the console it goes away.  I would appreciate anything you find Jim.

I had the same problem. The fix at the link above worked for me.

Found my buzzing
« Reply #12 on: June 02, 2012, 09:43:37 PM »
I have a 2010 C-14 to which I had mounted the Motax air wings.  I had the buzzing, and I added washers to the mounting for the instrument cluster, but the sound continued.  I took off the Motax air wings and replaced the stock screws and tightened them.  The buzzing has gone.  These screws are right next to where the rear view mirrors are mounted to the bike.  Check to see if they are loose.
