Hey everyone! It's about time to get this Group Buy for the 2010-2012 Kawasaki Concours Canyon Cage rockin'! Please keep in mind this Group Buy is for the 2010-2012 Connies only! We will be doing an entirely separate thread for the build and Group Buy for the 2008-2009 Connies once we get that bike in our facility.
This Group Buy is primarily for the new Canyon Cages although you can purchase the bathroom bars and/or saddle bag guards as well at this time. The discount percentage will apply to any products you buy at this time although only orders that include a Canyon Cage will count towards the next discount level! This Group Buy is going to end on Thursday, May 31st so that'll be the last day to get your orders in! This thread is basically a place for you to post any questions or comments you have regarding the Group Buy or the Canyon Cage itself. To place your order you can either call me directly at 866.886.2368 (toll free), email me, or even PM me through ZGGTR with your full name, shipping address, phone number, black/chrome/raw, and credit card information. Please keep in mind that your card will not be charged until the product is ready to leave our facility. Also, please get your orders in as early as possible so we can get an accurate number of how many we can expect to sell so we can get enough produced! If you don't feel comfortable giving your credit card information this early, you can wait and have me call you when the product is ready to ship and give your payment information then.
Normal MSRP for the Canyon Cages is $300 and the Saddle Bag Guards are $175. These guards are available in black, chrome, or raw for those of you who want to color match!
0-10 Canyon Cages Sold - 10% off / Shipping Included
11-20 Canyon Cages Sold - 15% off / Shipping Included
21-30 Canyon Cages Sold - 20% off / Shipping Included
31+ Canyon Cages Sold - 25% off / Shipping Included
Current Orders: 43
If any of you have any questions or comments regarding the Canyon Cage or how the Group Buy is going to work feel free to ask below and I'll be sure to answer! For those of you looking to exchange the Bathroom Bars for the Canyon Cage, please call me directly to set up your exchange as I'll need to give you a RA number. Thanks to all of you who participated in the design thread, I think we really came up with a great product for the Concours community!

Just email'd my order...guess I'm #8. Woohoo.
i just called and ordered mine.. I was told I'm number 8 so maybe they haven't checked their email. I ordered the fronts and also the rear bars as well. They really do look great.
Bill
-
I've caught up with all current orders and we're up to 13 already!
-
I just spoke to Ryan and put my order in for front & rear - he said I am #11 on the list and he has a couple more folks to call back, so it looks like we are well on our way!! I'm looking forward to getting these on the bike before I drop it!! :)
-

Thank you guys for getting your orders put in so early! We're now at 17! The earlier we get all the orders in the better. Keep in mind: Your cards won't be charged until we ship anyhow so all you're doing by ordering early is making sure there's a set reserved for you! Keep 'em coming!
-
I was #18. Ordered both Ft. and Rears.
-
Are any of you guys planning on mounting pegs on the cage? I've been thinking about this but want some black to match and some slim line ones that you really can't see when folded up. And would like them to mount to the lower bar and fold backwards along the lower bar. Has anyone found any good ones?
-
I'm not interested in highway pegs but I'm thinking these may provide a good way to mount a video camera.
-
Very true. Pegs on the bottom, camera on the top. I wouldn't use the pegs all the time, just out on longer cruises, so I want something that hides when folded up. I did see Rivco has some black ones and the way the clamp is, when it is folded it would be under the lower bar. Still looking. Also looking at Ronnies highway pegs but not sure they are out far enough to make much of a difference.
-
Comeon guys, hurry up and hit 31, Ryan and his crew have a set of gen ones to design ;D
-
My thoughts on the pegs are, they create a contact point earlier than the bars and "something" has to give. Will the peg roll around and hit the fairing? Will they cause the bar to bend in? Either of those seems like a reason to not use them - as much as I'd like the extra comfort now and then. But then, I can ride for miles standing up.
-
Hi,
Do you have service to Taiwan?
I am ok with Paypal or others for payment. It is of course to pay shipping fee.
-
Hey Luther, good to see you here!

If you guys with the pre10s Concourses were in this group buy, it probably would already be over 31.

I'd estimate 21+ already. I wonder if Ryan will sweeten the deal if we get over 50 total? How 'bout it Ryan? We are know to be a frugal lot ;) I'm even down for a set of pegs, I got some touring to do and the knees sure don't like anything over 10 hours :o
-
Hey Luther, good to see you here!
Hi Necron,
I am happy of seeing you 2.
-
Ryan, what's the time period for the group buy?
-
He said May 31st in an earlier post.
-
Thanks, didn't see that. Too early in the morning.
-
Just got off the phone with Ryan. Got them ordered #20.
-
Morning everyone! We sure are rocking and rolling on this Group Buy so far! For those of you hell-bent on finding a black peg/1" clamp combo, check out the attachment I attached below. It's a set of black pegs and 1" clamps that look extremely similar to the pegs we offer, just in black! I believe they're from a company called RivCo (http://www.rivcoproducts.com (http://www.rivcoproducts.com)).
Hi,

We can absolutely ship to Taiwan! Generally we use PayPal for overseas orders. If you'd like to participate in the Group Buy, just send me a PM with your full name, shipping address, and email along with what guards you want (The Canyon Cage and/or the saddle bag guards?) and what color you want (chrome, black, or raw?). Thanks!

We were thinking about extending it to 50 but we thought it wouldn't have been fair to the guys with the '08-'09s because we assumed the 10+ Canyon Cage would get to 50 but we didn't think the earlier generation bars would. We didn't want you guys to complain that one group was getting a better deal than the other because we're doing separate Group Buys. :-\ I think we have a good set up now, though. 25% off and free shipping is quite the deal! Especially for a bar that's already relatively affordable!
Ryan, what's the time period for the group buy?
The last day to get your orders in for the 2010-2012 Canyon Cage Group Buy is Thursday, May 31st, 2012. The earlier the better, though!
Just got off the phone with Ryan. Got them ordered #20.
Thanks for your order! We're up to 22 sets!
-
Just got mine in #23 ;D ;D
-
Someone should contact Best Western to see if they would be interested in some towel racks.
Haha, I kid, I kid. These bars look SOOO much better than the previous ones!!!
I think you will have more 08 - 09 orders than you realize. Lots of "gray" bikes on the road...
-

Hahahahaha Yea, I think the Canyon Cages look quite a bit better than the older style law enforcement bars as well but those things sure protect the bike well! We've sold tons of those law enforcement bars over the years too. I'm just curious as to how well a product that protects the bike well and actually looks good doing it is going to sell!
You may be right about the 2008-2009 bikes as well. There sure seem to be a lot of them out on the roads. From our standpoint though, it just seems like we sell a lot more for the 2010-2012 models. I guess we'll see what happens when the time comes!
-
Placed order with Ryan, #28. No shipping charges to Alaska! That is exceptional.
-
Wow 28...that's ridiculous! We'll be to the max discount in the first couple days! Most excellent!
-
I may well hold this thread hostage until the 08/09 owners get their sets designed...... >:( ;)

I have no data on how many of each year bikes were sold (was discussed in a separate thread, but it is confidential data that Kawasaki doesn't release). Logically, there were only two model years for gen 1 and we are now into 3 model years of gen 2 (who knows if there will be a 4th year of gen 2). But there might have been more interest in the bike when it first came out- so it might be a wash for now.
But other factors come into play- the older bikes are more likely to already have some type of drop/crash protection, and the newer bike owners are more likely to be nervous about adding drop/crash protection. It will be interesting to see how the statistics play out :)
-

Yeah- excellent indeed! We might have to start hounding Ryan to move UP the deadline (closer to now) so we can get things moving faster ;)
I wonder- has word leaked out to the "other" Concours group yet?
-
hi guys , this group buy has just popped up on our uk site, im keen to buy and maybe a few others over here. The sucker punch for us maybe the postage , we can get the adventure bars here , which i was just about to order . Can you give us a price for the additional postage to the uk and then we can work out the exchange rate and see how the deal stacks up, the 25% is looking certain now .

Hahahahahaha! Unfortunately moving the deadline up wouldn't do much to quicken the process because we're basically anchored by the production schedule. The bars are going to take roughly 4-5 weeks to manufacture regardless of the Group Buy guidelines. We are planning on getting the 2009 Connie in here soon, though! I can't wait til we start design work on that Canyon Cage!
Also, word has definitely leaked out! I believe someone posted a thread over at the COG forum and I'm sure other places as well! We should have absolutely no problem hitting the maximum discount. Especially because we're already at 28 orders!

Oh, man, that's awesome! Yea, I could see postage being an issue for some of you international guys but with the 25% discount it may actually come close. Postage to the UK is going to be roughly $45-$55 depending on the exact package weight and recipients postal/zip code. With the maximum discount you're looking at saving nearly $75 though so it may actually be worth it.
-
Yeah, I've cross posted it to COG, sporttour.net, a couple of ZG/GTR facebook pages, and Two Wheeled Texans. ;) Yeah, I want the max discount. ;)
-
It would be more cost effective to ship one parcel to the uk. There's import duty (5% of the total cost inc shipping) and VAT (20% on top of the final total) that needs to be considered as well. Also the handling fee
$300 + $50 (shipping) = $350
£217 at current exchange rate
+ 5% import = £227.85
+ 20% VAT = 275.42
+ £15 handling fee = £288.42
If one parcel was shipped and depending on the number of buyers, there would be a saving made there but I reckon it'd still come to around the £250 mark
-
250 pounds? Are you filling them with concrete????
Sorry....just kidding. A guy on a cruiser forum I used to frequent filled his highway bars with concrete to "make them stronger".... ummmmm.....hmmmmm.......
-
the postage kills this for us, with the 25% bulk discount they are coming in at the same price as our " adventure bars" , with all the charges added on like our vat then its a very expensive option . It works great for you guys stateside.
The other thing with overseas stuff is the cost implication of sending back if there was any warranty issue on them ,

Sorry Ryan, not to hijack your thread, but..............an FYI for those interested, Necron99 and I are sending our "raw" bars directly to a gent here in North Texas for color match powder coating for our blue C14s. He has done similar work for another member active here, who may share photos, but I won't volunteer him:)
Anyway, the powder coater has mentioned to me that he would be open to doing more, and his work is excellent. You would need to contact him directly to work out any shipping details and pricing, but the samples I've seen on the blue appears to be right on, and I am sure he can get as close to the red or silver.
If you are interested, PM me and I can direct you to his info.
-
Hmmmm, that is interesting. It'd be intriguing to know how many bikes of a certain year they sold...
Well I can't comment on #'s sold but this should give you a feel for the years owned on this forum, the data on this poll seems to show you'll have more 08/09 potential customers than 10+... :-\
http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=41.new#new (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=41.new#new)
-
There are a ton of assumptions inherent in that conclusion. ;) Anecdotal at best. My personal anecdote...I hadn't even SEEN that poll until you posted it here. Less than 200 respondents out of well over 2000 forum members, not a terrible representative sample, I don't suppose. But still a ton of assumptions. You could be correct, I'm not saying you're not. But I'll guarantee you this.... at SOME point the 10+ either have or guaranteed will be more units on the road than the 08 09. So the 10+ is a growing market segment. And as Ryan stated earlier, their data shows that the 10+ outsells the 09- on their other items. Straight numbers don't indicate... maybe someone paying 8k for a used bike is less likely to spend 500 on tip over protection than someone paying closer to 15k.
-
Many of us who wanted the Top Blocks understand what you're saying.
I checked it out and it is just as expensive to buy Top Blocks here in France with no postage as it is to get it delivered to my house in CO. I expect taxes have a lot to do with that.

I know it probably won't make a huge difference but remember to use $225 instead of $300 for your cost calculations as you guys have basically reached the 25% discount! It appears as though it's the VAT that really screws you guys over. That's lame that they charge you guys so much to import stuff!
Sorry Ryan, not to hijack your thread, but..............
No problem, my friend! It wasn't a total hijack because you're giving pertinent information!

I definitely think this has something to do with it. I've noticed that people are less likely to shell out top dollar for protection when they paid nearly half as much for their bike. Also, people who buy bikes brand new seem to be more attached to their machines and tend to take better care of them. It seems to me that people who buy used bikes worry as much about tiny scuffs and scratches. Of course this isn't the case with everyone, I'm speaking generally.
Order #30!!!'
Thanks for your order! One more until we hit the maximum discount! Great job, you guys!

Hey everyone! We're now up to 33 orders so congrats on hitting the 25% discount threshold! Our first production run of the Canyon Cages is for 50 sets so there are 17 left to be claimed. If you're serious about purchasing one of these cages and don't want to get stuck waiting for a second production run you may want to get your order in! Keep in mind we don't charge your credit card until we ship so all you're doing by placing your order early is making sure there is a set saved for you!
-
The second run will be after the gen 1 development, right? ;)
-
My order is in at #35....... Woo Hoo!!!! That takes care of this weeks overtime $$..
-
The second run will be after the gen 1 development, right? ;)
I bet if they hit 75+ units in the next couple weeks the production on the next 50 will get moved up. ;) But I doubt that the development of the 08/09 is much dependent on the production run.
-
Ryan, I've read the posts re adding highway pegs to the Canyon Cage bar but is it possible to use the cage itself as a highway peg, even if just resting one's outstretched foot on top of what appears to be a horizontal bar?

Blue I tried doing that this weekend and no luck. I could not get my foot to rest on top of the cage.
-
Does anyone know if these bars are compatible with Ronnie's Highway Pegs? In other words, would the bars conflict (in space) for Ronnie's Pegs? I can't quite tell from the pictures.

Looks like I may be #38. Just ordered front/rear set. Thanks Ryan

I just spoke with Ryan. Order both the front and rear #39 (he thinks). He said that they have a line of callers waiting and ones he needs to call back. Clearly, they found the need that we riders have said that has been there for quite some time.

It looks like they might have to bump up the initial run to more than 50.
-
Probably too much to ask for a larger discount if they hit 50, but maybe throw in a little somethingsomething for the response - Kawasaki Only Parking sign ;D
-
I'm 40... but it looks like they're at 42 or 43 right now.
-
Hey guys! We're cookin' today and approaching 50 sets sold! I feel I should clarify the exchange deal as I don't think I explained it very well at the beginning. We're offering to exchange the bathroom bars for the Canyon Cages but only to people who bought their bathroom bars during the group buy we did a few weeks ago. We can't have people exchanging a bar that's a year or more old. The people who participated in the first group buy paid $297.50 and would be receiving that much as credit towards the Canyon Cages. When the customer returns their product we'll determine whether or not additional charges need to be applied for stripping and refinishing (typically ~$30). If the product is in flawless condition and doesn't need to be stripped and redone you'll receive a credit of $297.50 towards your purchase of the Canyon Cages ($225) which means you'll be credited $72.50 for a straight swap with no damage. This may still be a bit confusing but if you think you're eligible for an exchange message, email, or call me and we'll handle the exchanges case by case.
The second run will be after the gen 1 development, right? ;)
No need to worry about that! Although we usually take a few lead men away from their normal duty to help develop new product, normal production usually doesn't slow down much. Our development of the earlier generation Canyon Cages won't impede the production of the Canyon Cages for the 2010-2012, don't worry!
But I doubt that the development of the 08/09 is much dependent on the production run.
:D
Ryan, I've read the posts re adding highway pegs to the Canyon Cage bar but is it possible to use the cage itself as a highway peg, even if just resting one's outstretched foot on top of what appears to be a horizontal bar?
Thanks for testing this, Zulu! But, yea, I don't think this would be very comfortable. It's a bit hard to tell from the photos but the Canyon Cage bends in towards the bike as it hugs the fairings so it's a bit of a weird position having to wrap your legs around the bike. If you're looking to put your feet up, I think highway pegs are your best option.
It looks like they might have to bump up the initial run to more than 50.
We're debating between adding a few more or just starting a second production run sooner than we we're originally planning. This would drastically minimize the amount of time one would have to wait for the second set. Decisions, decisions...I'll let you guys know what we decide to do as soon as we figure it out!

Ryan,
You are a busy man for sure. And I'm sure your Boss is a very happy guy with the potential of a hundred sets of bars as fast as you can make them. There are quite a few here that want highway pegs. I have searched trying to find some that fit the Canyon Cage bars and with style that fits the bike and folds out of the way. I was looking thru your site and see that you offer many pegs but few fit these bars. Is it possible for your design guy to design a bracket that fits these 1" bars and use your in house pegs? Keep the bracket as simple as possible for production and style. I know this seems like a small market but I'd bet other bike brand cage customers would probably buy as well. The closest ones I found are the ones I mentioned earlier(below) and could be used as a starting point to design. They can be mounted horizontally or vertically so give alot of flexibility in mounting. Even some of the nay sayers might eventually try a set for the long ride home if the didn't stand out like a sore thumb. Thanks.

We actually mocked up a set of highway pegs specifically for this new Canyon Cage and posted some photos in the build thread but that thing is so long now it's nearly impossible to find specific information. Below are some photos of the highway pegs we threw together for the Canyon Cage. If these don't appeal to you, you can also get a similar set of pegs/clamps that come in black which a lot of people seem to be looking for. The black pegs/clamps are from a company called RivCo (www.rivcoproducts.com (http://www.rivcoproducts.com)).

If the pegs used a good rubber liner, I wonder if they could be used for long trips and taken off without marring the surface. I think the bike looks much better without them on but I could see sacrificing looks for comfort on the long slab days.
-
I called to speak with Ryan and found out the shop is usually closed on Friday. I was still able to place my order with a very accommodating and nice lady. I guess I am #44 on the list with expected shipping by mid-June. I ask about mounting instructions which should be posted soon.
-
Just sent in an email for a set. #45?
-
We actually mocked up a set of highway pegs specifically for this new Canyon Cage and posted some photos in the build thread but that thing is so long now it's nearly impossible to find specific information.

The pegs look nice but in a tip over they would probably get pushed into the lower fairing. I'll be calling for a set of bars front and back on Monday. Was having a hard time deciding between chrome and powder.

I just ordered and Ryan said I was number 50.

I just ordered and Ryan said I was number 50.
So there you have it!
Now we just wait for a month :(
-
Mmm. The lady just told me I am number 50. ???
She said Ryan had gone home for the day and took my information. She did say it looks like they are raising the production run to 75 units.
-
A couple of days with no activity - curious how many will be sporting the new Canyon Cages. Have we hit 75 yet?
-
My first post here...Been lurking for a while. I will be ordering these in the very near future. Don't know enough yet about install etc so getting my ducks in a row before ordering.
-
The near future is the end of the month for this deal.
-
Well, this deal is too good to pass up. I'll bite, will give 'em a call today and reserve a set. Need some sort of protection in case of an errant tip-over or slow-speed foul up! lol
-
Hey guys! Sorry I've been out of the office for the last few days taking some personal time. Now I have tons of messages and emails to return so if you've left me a message, I should be getting back to you all sometime today! Currently we're up to about 55 sets sold and I have a few orders here to put in so we're probably around 57-58 realistically. We're blowing through this first run of 75 way quicker than I thought! Also, we're getting the 2009 Connie in to begin working on that Canyon Cage on 5/29 so watch for that build thread in a few weeks!
-
-
I'll be ordering a set, just getting my pennies counted and getting final approval from SWMBO.
-
Hey Ryan you caught up on your orders yet? I placed an email to you through this forum earlier this week and have yet to see anything back yet. Work hours kind of make it hard to call you during your business hours.
-

Ryan, I didn't get a chance to call you the other day, damned time difference had me waiting until about 10 my time and by then, I was well into another universe of mind... lol.. I'll make sure it's before the deadline at the end of the month, by setting an event in my Outlook as a fail-safe. Hope to call you no later than Tuesday.

I saw the pictures in the beginning of the bars on a black C14, just like mine. Man, they sure look good. Really looking forward to getting the Canyon Bars to go with my already installed small saddlebag guards.
Which by the way I can verify protect the bags in a low speed drop. Saving a great deal of money.

Ah, you already had a drop? What happened to the front?

I'm rarely over in the Accessory forum, but I'm glad I ventured the look. I got in on the group buy. I'm stoked at the look and "no cutting" aspects of the Canyon Cage. I've been looking for side protection, but didn't want to get the shower bars. Ryan told me after my order we're past 60 or so.
Great job. Now to get a group buy on a new saddle.
-
Unless Baldwin or Russell are going to do a group buy, I'd ignore a group buy of an off-the-shelf aftermarket seat and go with Baldwin or Russell. Just my opinion, worth at least as much as you paid for it. LOL
-
Hey guys! I just thought some of you would get a kick out of seeing your bars going through production! Canyon Cages a'plenty over here at MCE!
We're up to nearly 65 sets sold so we've almost sold our entire first production run of 75! If any of you guys are on the fence about ordering, you may want to make a decision sooner rather than later unless you don't mind waiting for our second production run which should begin sometime soon.
Also, I wanted to mention to you guys that I'm thinking of creating a Pinterest (www.pinterest.com (http://www.pinterest.com)) page for these Canyon Cages as a way to collect and share photos of your guys' Connie's with the Canyon Cages installed. So, those of you who have a CC on order, once you receive your bars and get them installed be sure to send us some photos! Any type of photo would be a big help but it'd be cool if we could get some artsy type shots as well as some action shots if at all possible!
-

Oh yes, that is coolness. Of course, seeing them all welded and painted and chromed would be even more cool :)

Not to worry, people will be posting their pictures here, for sure. I know I will (and send you some really good/high-res stuff, as promised, if you want).
-
Ryan, hope you don't mean action shots of the cages at work! ;)
-
I'm more interested in seeing pics of them powder coated and installed on my bike.... LOL
-
I think I see my bars.
-
No - those were mine

Mine are the 6th set from the left.

That's a good point, I'm sure a lot of people will be posting their pictures here which is fine. I can simply copy the photos from here and use them if the people who post them don't mind me using and sharing them! I'd love to see some really good, high res photos! Thanks, Maxtog!
Ryan, hope you don't mean action shots of the cages at work! ;)
Hahahaha I never wish for anyone to go over but it does happen from time to time (which is why most of you are purchasing fairing protection to begin with). So, in the case of a tipover, I wouldn't mind photos of that as well. That would help document the type of protection these cages do offer in a variety of spills. When I say "action shots" though, I moreso mean stuff like this:

Hahahahaha I bet! I know it doesn't feel like it but we ARE getting closer!
-
just placed my order, had to get in on the 1st run!
-

Nice! We only have about 8 sets left in this first batch so your timing was perfect!
-
I think you will have more 08 - 09 orders than you realize. Lots of "gray" bikes on the road...
I can verify that. I will be first in line to a set for my 08.
Those look great. I am thinking black on the 08...
-
Just got in under the wire on these, spoke with Ryan, great guy, looking forward to the product.
Hey, one question to the group of folks who ordered these... Ryan recognized my city saying that someone else from here ordered a set.... who else on this group is in Bradenton, FL? Hey was pretty sure about the city, I suggested maybe it was Brandon, FL... but he said no, he was pretty sure it was B-Town as we call it.. :)
Thanks.
Tom
-
Ryan recognized my city saying that someone else from here ordered a set....
Apparently it wasn't someone from here! I did some digging through my SO's and found out it was another one of our miscellaneous customers that purchased product for a completely different bike. I was right about the city, though! He was from Bradenton! I was wrong about him being from the forum though.
-
Oh, ok Ryan, thanks for doing that! :)
-
So Ryan, if the Gen 1 bike is showing up today, better start shipping those Gen 2 bars out to make room for the Gen 1 action... let's see, if you shipped mine today, I could have them on for my trip to Reno this weekend!! ;)

I need mine at least by July 1st so I can mount 'em and maybe fashion some sort of cam mount as others have suggested. Heading to NC/TN a week later.

Hi Ryan,
Do you have an update on how production is going and when it will be finished on this first set? Looking forward to getting them!

Hey guys! We're rocking and rolling on the production of these bars. They're moving along nicely. They should be done right around the middle of June and we'll begin shipping them out a day or two after that once we can get them all boxed up and organized. So, those of you who want them for July should definitely have them by then. We'll most likely be shipping during the week of June 18 - 21 and it only takes 2-4 business days to arrive depending on where you're at in the country.

I am not sure if this fits or not - but I am # 59 with a set of Front and Rears.
I know is very late, and not sure they will even be out of the oven then - and I certainly have no idea on the effort / time to do the install, or the tools needed, but
I was just preping the bike for the forthcoming trip and wishing i had the bars for the trip - I am headed down to the COG National Rally in Arkansas being held June 11-15 when the thought struck me that you might be interested in doing a demonstration installation at the rally on a brand new shiney Candy Arabian Red 2012 C14 at the tech session there. Just a thought...
There are currently 300 or so COGers attending the rally - I believe the marketing term is - "A target rich environment"
But just thought I would raise the possibility/offer.

Great idea! Or install on a 2010 C14 (blue)!!

All the cool guys with blue 10s are getting their bars color matched... ;)
-
Once again I don't get to be one of the "cool" kids...
Oh, I have a 2010 Blue Neptune Connie, (yes, it gets more chicks), but I am ALSO Obsessive/Compulsive about my bike. I love it and want to pamper it, so, let me tell you what would happen if I get my front bars color matched.
First, I would look at the bike and instead of seeing a thing of beauty, all I would see is the BLACK rear bars and how they don't match the front, so I'd have to get the rear bars color matched... then I would have to get a new color matched helmet. Next would be a tattoo (in blue color match of course) saying that I am a Neptune Blue fan, followed by ear piercing with a blue stud...
So you see why I can't be one of the cool guys, sorry,

So, Ryan, how'd we do? I really do think finding the right forum for most any bike will yield the same kind of results. With what you have done by incorporating us is given us mental ownership of your product, sure to keep the sales rolling. I've seen lots of products for the KLR, but nothing I want to put on my bike, all they did was make um and sell um.
So, once you get done with the Gen1 14, get to hopping on the KLR (Gen 1 of course) ;D

We did fabulously! I believe we sold nearly every single set of our first production run save for a few we're setting aside in case of emergency. Thank you guys for all the input! We couldn't have ended up with such a solid design without the help from all of you! Regarding the KLR, I'll do some digging and research and see if it's something that'd be up our alley and pass it along to the owner!

Looks like we're a bit ahead of schedule! We just sent the first batch of bars out to our powder coaters and I snapped a photo of them as they were on their way out of our facility. We should be ready to ship the first sets by early next week so those of you who placed your order first should be seeing these sooner than expected! ;D

I'm glad everyone is getting excited for their bars! We're excited over here as well!
So are the raw first units ready to go?
The raw units aren't quite ready to go as of yet. I believe the raw sets will be plucked from the next mini-batch of 25 we finish up though so they'll be done soon.
And the first silver/chrome?
The chrome plated bars should also be finished up soon. I'm not 100% sure if we're chroming any from the first mini-batch or not but either way they'll be done soon. The majority of all the 2010-2012 guards should be shipping out by sometime next week.
-
I can't wait for my powder coated bars to arrive! Looking forward to installing them, and taking a ride with them on to see how they look.
-
I'd have thought the raw ones were the easiest to get out the door. LOL :D
-
Ditto - and I am biased, but why wouldn't the unfinished sets just be plucked from the rack and sent on their merry way?
-
Patience grasshoppers, patience. You’ll have to wait just like the rest of us. ;)
-
Just thought they were being shipped in the order received, I guess. No biggee.

Sounds that way to me..... (my underscore added)
-
Does NOT sound that way to me. I was easily in the first 25 orders, and Ryan is saying here that the raw sets are being plucked from the 2nd 25 run. That's all. :D

OK, my bad. What I didn't understand was, apparently some folks ordered theirs raw for special painting or coating? I didn't catch that. So they're on-purpose shipping raw units to some. Yikes, I missed that part. I see what you mean now, if they took the 1st 25 and shipped them raw... etc. etc...
-
Morning guys! We are basically shipping by order number with the raw sets being an exception. The reason the raw guards are coming out of the second mini-batch is because we're somewhat limited by minimums enforced by our finishers. We have to get a certain amount done to get the price we're used to so that's why the raw guards come out of a later batch even though they're technically the first type that are completed. If we were to ship out the raw sets from the first batch, we wouldn't have enough sets getting finished to get our price break. Don't worry, though! The "mini-batches" are really close together time wise so we're only talking about a difference of a few days at most. All of your guards should be out the door here by the end of next week. I apologize for the delay, though.
-
No worries at all, I'm used to being "exceptional." LMAO! The reasoning makes total sense now that you say it. Can't wait to get 'em painted up and be a testament to this process.
-
Ryan,
How's the first batch looking for shipping? I'm getting excited!! :P :P

My card has been charged which should mean they shipped. :) :) :)
-
Mine too. Maybe we'll get a status update from Ryan today. Last group buy, he gave us the initials of the folks that had been shipped in the first lot, to ease the suspense. ;)
-
They called yesterday afternoon to get my CC#, and I was #9 on the list. Said it might go out, but if not then it would ship today. It sounded hectic there trying to get them shipped out.
-
Morning guys! We finally received some of the Canyon Cages back from our powder coaters and managed to get some shipped out yesterday. It was definitely hectic because we got the guards back around 230pm and FedEx usually shows up at 4pm to pick up the daily shipments so we didn't have much time to get them prepped and sent. Anyhow, I managed to get out about 15 shipments which I'll list below:
T.E. - 01752
S.S. - 79424
J.Z. - 94561
A.H. - 49512
W.G. - 37027
W.R. - 10018
J.C. - 35750
T.V. - 97124
S.R. - 80908
C.B. - 84041
D.D. - 94577
R.M. - 75220
K.K. - 68133
M.B. - 78738
R.R. - 37398
D.T. - 84057
M.M. - 67401
We should be getting more sent out today which I'll list later on once they leave the facility. Also just a heads up, those of you who purchased the clamps/highway pegs, I will be shipping your Canyon Cages out within the next few days but the clamps will not be ready for another two weeks or so. In that case, I'll ship them separately so you can get the Canyon Cage put on your bike and you can just add the pegs when they're ready. If any of you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to ask!
-
Ha! I'm on the list. :D Thanks, Ryan!
-
Question - do the bars come with hardware? Or does the stock hardware get reused? My apologies if this has been asked and answered previously, though I did not see it.

Its all good! I think this was answered previously but I believe it was in a different thread. Anyhow, the bars do indeed come with the necessary/required hardware.
-
Sweet!! Thanks Ryan. We really appreciate you getting these shipped in a hurry.
Just a few more weeks for the pegs and I will be golden for the next raod trip.

Mine showed up on Friday a nice surprise I must say. So Ryan what little kid did you have put those inside brace bolts on. Really I had to have a neighbor kid come put them on for me! My short fat hands just did not fit and I will be buying some new tools to take them off ( if they ever come off ) 30 min to tighten 2 nuts was a bit much. But hey there on look good and hope to test ride them Sunday.
-
Morning guys! I have a few extra people we were able to ship out on Thursday. I apologize for updating this list a bit late but unfortunately I was out of office for the day by the time the list of daily shipments was ready. Anyhow, on Thursday, June 14th we shipped out the following orders:

We will be shipping more out this week once we get another batch of 25 back from our finishers so I'll be sure to update the list at that time! Thanks you guys!
Hahahha I suppose "Stubby" is an appropriate alias! Armando was the one to install the inside brace bolts. It is a bit of a tight fit but that was really our only option. I'm glad you finally got them put on though! Let us know how you like them once you have some time to ride around with them on.
-
It feels like being a kid waiting for Santa. I check to see my initials on the next list, and they are not there yet, but I know they will be soon!
-
I'm with ya there buddy! :)
-
Morning! Just an update for you guys: We'll be picking up another 25 sets from our powder coaters today so we'll be shipping more of those out by tomorrow! As for the chrome sets, we plan on picking those up today as well, actually. However, the chrome sets take a bit longer to prep for shipping because we have to unwrap them and hand wipe each one individually before boxing them up to be shipped so we probably won't get the chrome sets out until Thursday most likely. It all depends on traffic and how long it takes for our driver to get them to us to begin prepping them for shipping! I just wanted those of you who are still waiting that there are still sets on their way. ;D
-
Any update for those of us who are buying the most profitable sets you're selling? :)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, Necron. Do you mean the raw sets that you purchased? I was only confused because I'm pretty sure that's what you ordered but I don't think those are the most profitable sets we sell. :o I believe your raw set is leaving our facility today, though. I'll update the thread later on when we have the shipments prepped and I'm positive about what's leaving today.
-
Cool! I can't imagine any way that the raw sets are not more profitable than the chromed or the powdercoated sets - from this group buy.

It's official, the raw sets are leaving today! You're right, though. The raw sets are the most profitable for us from this group buy alone merely because we don't have to cover the cost of finishing them. I just wasn't positive that's what you meant or not. I think the bathroom bars are actually a bit more profitable for us overall so that's what lead to my confusion. Anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy your guards! I hope it's okay that I shipped yours and Dalroos (I believe that's who also ordered the raw set) out together because they were both going to Ayers Garage.
-
Absolutely cool by us, our painter is painting them together and all that. Thanks, Ryan! We'll get you pics when they're done. Hopefully it saved you a couple bucks in shipping too. I hate it when UPS makes too much money. LOL

Awesome! Yea, it did save us a tad being able to ship it in bulk so thank you for that! I look forward to seeing the pictures of the awesome color matched bars and I hope you guys thoroughly enjoy your Canyon Cages!

Damn, somebody send Breaker some canyon cages! :)
-
Recieved my cages and bag guards yesterday. They look better on the bike than pictures do justice. Thank you so much to Ryan and all the crew at MCE. Nice work Gentlmen, very nice work. Install was a breeze (with proper tools, I wouldn't want to try that inner nut without a quality fine tooth ratchet wrench) and only took me about an hour to do all four guards including taping everything off and painting the silver nut on the left side black after everything was installed.
I only have one comment of a negative nature. I don't like that I can't fold the passenger pegs up anymore. Not that they need to be folded up or that I even want too, it just bugs me for reasons I cannot explain. Small price to pay for what is excellent protection at a very reasonable cost.
I can't wait to get some highway pegs mounted on the bars. Another place to put my feet will be great.
Thanks again to Ryan and the crew at MCE.
-
Kinetic......... I understand what your saying on the passenger pegs............ I bought the passenger peg extensions from Motorcycle Larry so I could fold them up!! Now it does not "bug me"............
-
I will have to look into those. Thank you.
Glad I'm not the only one with OCD.
-
I put the Projekt D extensions on my bike and they work great.
-
If you were serious about your OCD you'd call it CDO. ;)
-
Breaker, you had our entire office rolling from those graphics you cooked up! Hilarious!! ;D I'm glad those of you who have begun to receive your guards are digging them though. We really busted our behinds to create a stellar product and I have a feeling these will be an awesome seller for us for quite some time! Also, I'll be sure to let you guys know when the next batch of guards leave our facility. Thanks again!
-
They have been on my bike for 48 hours now and I love them. I agree with Kinetic1, they look better in person then in the pictures. I installed some highway pegs yesterday and was able to get them exactly where I needed them for uber comfort.

Alrighty guys we're picking up another batch of black bars from our powder coaters later this afternoon! It takes a little bit of time to prep them for shipping so they won't be going out til tomorrow but here's a list of who will be shipping tomorrow:

Again, these orders won't be going out til tomorrow so that's when your cards will be charged. Also, if you asked me to email your tracking information when the product leaves our facility, look for that in your email tomorrow once the product actually leaves. We will be picking up the chrome sets of Canyon Cages on Thursday so we should be able to get those out Monday for those of you who ordered chrome. I'll post those initials and zip codes once we're prepping the shipments though so there's no confusion. We'll most likely be picking up the remainder of the black guards sometime next week so hopefully the rest of the powder coated sets will be leaving our facility by the end of next week. Thanks for all of your participation in the group buy!

After about 500 miles in the saddle, they start to look very good.

I am definitely putting highway pegs on mine and I have thought seriously about a trailer. :-[

Whose highway pegs are those? I might acquire the same. Did you investigate mounting them higher up on the cage?
-
:-[
Guess I won't have mine iin time to show off at the MSTA rally in Avon, CO, next week.
-
Well, I have some unfortunate news for K.S. - 95032. :'( Our powder coaters returned one of the Canyon Cages with a small scuff so that guard will have to be redone. Seeing as how you were the last order in that batch, you're the one I have to bump to the next batch. I sincerely apologize for this but it's out of our control. Instead of shipping out today, your guard will go out next week with batch #3 once they have a change to redo the guard.
-

I got them at a local shop and are made by BikeMaster like these: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/121/4258/ITEM/Bikemaster-O-ring-Footpegs.aspx (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/121/4258/ITEM/Bikemaster-O-ring-Footpegs.aspx)
I also got longer bolts (3/8" x 3" fine thread) and used 1/2" nuts as spacers to make them stick out further. Yes I tried them in different positions. That's what I love about these Canyon Cages, you have lots of options for highway pegs. I want to eventually get the Rivco black ones but I'm leaving on a 2 week trip Saturday and need something immediately.

Rivco has the black pegs backordered right now, but I'm optimistic they'll show up sometime in the next 4 weeks (in time for my summer ride).

:'( Maybe some day I will have canyons

We found a local bike shop that has a lot of used parts in a swap meet area of their shop. Tons of foot pegs and they had a couple different mounts as well. Once my bars are here and on then I can see which mounts will fit.
Ryan- are you sending out tracking numbers for those of use whose bars have shipped?

MC Enterprises is just a few miles from where I live so I rode over today and plunked down money for Canyon Cages. Got to meet Ryan, to one who watches and interacts with the forum, sets up these group buys, etc. Also got the cooks tour from Mike, the CEO and janitor. Some interesting equipment in the manufacturing area. I was a machinist and manufacturing engineer for years before I opened up my bicycle shop (don't tell my mom, she still thinks I'm playin' piano down at the cat house). The machine that twists the square stock is a homemade job. The motor started out life as the power to open concrete doors to missle silos and the rest was a threading machine. Several screw
machines from the 1940s. A very clean and very big polishing room that was in full swing, hard to keep the walls white in a polishing room but theirs were. Several older bikes in the lobby from the 1960s and 1970s. My favorite was a Kawasaki H2 Mack IV, that one took me back. All in all a very nice facility and a great crew. Ryan thinks our group buy will reach the 25% discount level. Way to go all you "my legs are on fire" 2008 & 2009 owners.
Thanks for the kind words, slideways! I apologize I didn't have more time to speak with you since I was trying to close out my responsibilities for the day but I'm glad you enjoyed stopping by! Thanks for your order and I hope you enjoy the Canyon Cages once you pick them up!
-
No apology needed Ryan and here's to hoping I never actually need your product... ;)

Welp, we picked up another batch from our powder coaters late yesterday afternoon and will be shipping the following orders today:
J.V. - 44310
M.L. - 08619
D.M. - 46368
P.S. - 95130
R.W. - 21222

M.W. - 03047
S.C. - 80537
D.B. - 77441
V.H. - 94553
M.S. - 07422
E.B.M. - 94541
G.C. - 77088
If you asked me to email or pm your tracking numbers, I'll send that information once the orders have been put into our shipping computer and the tracking numbers produced later this afternoon. I think these are the last few shipments of the 2010-2012 Canyon Cage Group Buy (save for a few international orders) so I want to thank you all for your participation in not only the Group Buy but the build thread as well. As I've stated before, we wouldn't have been able to come up with such a great product without all of your valuable input! I'd like to leave this thread open for another week or so until everyone has received their guards and have no further questions regarding the guards themselves, shipping, or installation. Thanks again, everyone!

We're normally closed on Fridays so I'm not at the office but our office manager had to go in so she said she'd get the tracking information for you. I asked her to text me the tracking number so I could message it to you on the forum but she said she already spoke with you on the phone. I just wanted to double check that you got the information.

If you're seriously interested in these bars, we're offering 10% off the 2010-2012 Canyon Cages and Saddle Bag Guards (if purchased with a Canyon Cage) through the month of July. Just contact me toll free at the office (866.886.2368) or email me for more information or to place your order!

Snoozed, lost?
I guess - been spending all my spring riding instead of sitting indoors on the forums. Apparently my priorities are all screwed up. ;D
I was watching the previous group buy thread where I opted for the saddlebag guards (hoping of course that when and if cc's were available that someone would mention it) and somehow missed the whole "we have canyon cages for C-14's now" information elsewhere on the site until today. :o
The good news is they are available! ;D

Sounds good! Just make sure you order before the end of July or you'll miss out on the 10% discount! If you're sure you want them, you can always PM me your order through the forum here with your full name, shipping address with zip code, and phone number. We don't charge credit cards used for the order until the product is ready to ship so you could call with that information once you're back in the states if you'd like since our next batch won't be ready until early August. That way you'll have a set reserved for you. I already have a back order list of 12 people for the next set of 2010-2012 Canyon Cages so they're selling very quickly. If you wait, the next production batch may sell out and you'll have to wait until our NEXT production run! It's up to you of course but if you're serious about wanting them, you may want to get a set reserved.

Received mine yesterday - mounted today. Came with some of the best installation instructions I've ever seen. Really well done. Looks great. Seems to be very well-engineered (strong) solution. Might mention that existing hex head bolts behind radiator are red Locktited so can be difficult to remove. Installed cheap highway pegs from Drag Specialties - P/N 1904-1764 ($20) so upcoming trip to Alaska (6 - 600 mile days to Anchorage) will be so much easier. I used a piece of thin inner tube rubber between the clamp and the cage to minimize damage to finish and get more clamping force. Combining pegs with Russell Day-Long provides very comfortable alternate riding position. I like them higher than other positions shown on this forum.
I'm well pleased. :D :D :D

Awesome! I'm glad to hear you received them and dig them! I think mentioning that the existing hex heads are red loc-tited is a good idea, I'll be sure to add that to the instructions (along with some other changes other customers have recommended) so future customers are aware of it. Thanks for the tip!

Hahahaha, you're too kind! Thank you!

I just wanted to let you guys know that based on your feedback, I have updated the instructions with a short list of "recommended tools" as well as a note about the red Loctite on the motor mount bolts. In addition to these notes, we're also adding a washer to the kit for that special step nut on the left side of the bike as we got some feedback that when cinched down, this step nut was eating away at the finish. If any of you guys would like me to send this washer out to you at no charge, please call or email me and request it! If there is anything else you guys can think of for me to add that would make the Canyon Cage easier for future customers to install, please let me know! Thanks!
-
... If any of you guys would like me to send this washer out to you at no charge, please call or email me and request it! ...
PM Sent... A little paint before installation of the washer should do the trick to protect the damaged powdercoat... plus the caps that others have been toying with to clean it all up.
I appreciate your continuing willingness to keep us happy customers happy.
-
I appreciate your continuing willingness to keep us happy customers happy.
No problem, buddy! It should have been included to begin with and I sincerely apologize if any of you have scuffed the powder coating while installing that step nut.
-
I received an email at 5:06pm last night (that I'm just seeing now because I'm in the office) and for some reason I'm having issues replying to it. I sent two replies two different ways and both of them came back with some error. This email was a request for one of the washers but there was no name or anything so I don't know where to send it. I can certainly send you the washer but I'll need the name you placed the order with. It'd be easier if I could post your email address here but I'm leery to do so. I only received one email request for the washer last night so you should know who you are. Please send me a message through the forum so I can get your washer out to you!
-
Use the PM process to contact, Ryan, please. Posting of email addys isn't wise. The search robots will harvest them and then the world ends.

Thanks, Jim! I agree, posting emails probably isn't a great idea. It'd be best if you guys could just PM me (unless we've been speaking via email and you have my address and all) if you need the washer. Just be sure to include the name you used to order the Canyon Cage so I know where to send the washer!

Ever heard of a long shot, a really big long shot, well how about this then, if anybody is coming to the good old UK this year and wants to bring me a front set of Canyon bars for my GTR then I would be one happy camper, of course i will pay in advance but its the postage (shipping) which kills it.
Told you it was a long shot didnt I?

RAF Upper Heyford is now shut down, and has been for a few years, its now a storage depot and there is talk of building houses on it.
I remember driving through Ardley once and a F1-11 came over the top about 50 feet high, frightened the life out of me.

You should have been there when it was a SAC Reflex bomber base....B-47 and U-2.
But I digress....and become nostalgic for the old days.
Good luck on the bars. Hopefully someone will be traveling your way. How much is the shipping over there?
Oh, and welcome to the nut house.

I've calculated shipping to be about $90. That's pricey but not completely outrageous. I've had some other customers order from places like Australia, Croatia, and Malaysia and shipping to them was $200+. $90 for shipping really isn't too bad considering the ridiculously fair price of the bars themselves. With shipping, you'd be paying about $360 for the front set alone which is still less than the cost of similar products from some of our competitors. Also, it's less than you'd be paying to replace parts of the fairing if you were to dump the bike.

On the one hand I agree parts are expensive, but then again that's what insurance is for, I have to pay £225 (350US) a year, my mate who claimed for a set of fairings after he fell off pays only £100 more than he did before, so from that way it's not a cheap option, but if your like me you prefer to keep your bike up to scratch then there excellent protective items to have.

About to order the Revco footpegs. Will I need the 7/8ths clamps or the 1.25's?
Thanks!

I believe for gen 2 bars they are 1 inch and for gen 1 they are 7/8 inch
-
About to order the Revco footpegs. Will I need the 7/8ths clamps or the 1.25's?
Thanks!
For the 2010-2012 or the 2008-2009? The 2008-2009 Canyon Cages are 7/8" and the 2010-2012 Canyon Cage is 1". Neither of them are 1.25".
Inb4 someone asks "Why the difference?": We made the 2008-2009 Canyon Cage 7/8" so it would match the Saddle Bag Guards we've been making for that bike for years now. We changed the Saddle Bag Guards to 1" in 2010 so we decided to make the Canyon Cage for that bike that size as well so it would also match. There is almost no variance in strength though because both bars have the same wall thickness which has more of an effect on tubing strength than overall diameter does.

Thanks!

Alan,
Not such a long shot. My son played pro basketball in the BBL at Worcester last season. I came over with a half empty bag last year in anticipation of bringing home some of the excellent Kawasaki GA gear (textile jackets and such) you guys get over there. Would not have been much of a stretch to me at all to grab a set and hoist them over for you but alas he is off to the top league is Switzerland this year. Once I figure out flights this fall I will check back here and see if I fly through there. Would be more than happy to help you out if the opportunity is there.

Hi Ryan - As an mechanical engineer, I thought I'd respond to the "no variance in strength" remark. It depends on what you mean by "strength" - if you're talking about deflection under load or resistance to breakage. I'll do some calculations for tubing under bending loads.
For deflection, the amount of deflection between the two different tubing sizes is governed by the moments of inertia of the two different tubings.
For a round cross section, moment of inertia is pi x d^4 / 64. For tubing the moment of inertia is the outside moment of inertia minus the inside moment of inertia. The ratio of the moments of inertia for the two different tubing sizes can be shown as the following equation:
1" tubing MOI / 7/8" tubing MOI = (D1out^4 - D1in^4) / (D2out^4 - D2in^4)
(where 1 refers to 1" and 2 refers to 7/8")
If we assume ".125" wall thickness = (1^4 - .75^4) / (.875^4 - .625^4)
= .683 / .433
= 1.576
For .10" wall thickness = (1^4 - .8^4) / (.875^4 - .675^4)
= .590 / .378
= 1.56 (about the same)
This means that 1" diameter tubing is about 1.5 times stiffer than 7/8" tubing and will bend quite a bit less under bending load.
For stress (resistance to breakage), the highest stresses in bending are at the outside of the tubing and are calculated as (M x c / I) where M is the moment loading on the tubing
c is the radius of the tubing and
I is the moment of inertia (see above).
The moment M is the same for the two tubings (same loading situation), whereas there are differences for the two tubings for c and I. The ratio of c for the two tubings is the ratio of the two diameters or 7/8. The ratio of I was calculated above for the deflection case.
The ratio of stress for the two tubings is (c2 / I2) / (c1 / I1)
= (7/8" / .433) / (1" / .683)
= 2.02 / 1.464
= 1.38
Therefore, the 7/8" tubing will see about 1.4 times greater bending stress than the 1" tubing under the same load.
The Canyon Cage design avoids a lot of bending loads towards the front as there is a nice triangular arrangement of the steel with the interior cross-brace going from the cage up to the radiator mount. From the middle of the cage on each side and going back to the rear attachment at the engine mount, the cage would see more bending loads upon a tipover, etc. I would expect the highest stresses for the cage right to be near the engine mount and where the most permanent deflection would occur if static and/or dynamic loads on the cage exceeded the yield strength of the steel used. Is this what the cage designers saw during functional tests of the cage?

So, basically, if you drop both bikes on the same surface while sitting still both bars will protect your bike.
If you crash at speed there is a greater chance the bars on the earlier models will bend before the bars on the later models, but if you crash at speed the bars will be the least of your worries.
Does that sum up what you were saying with all the formulas?

No. I didn't jump to conclusions. I just responded to the statement both bars are about "the same strength".

Our testing showed that both guards (regardless of tubing diameter) held up very well to a variety of situations that the guards were designed to withstand. There may be a small variance in tubing strength between the 1" and 7/8" material we used (which is precisely what you showed) but that variance in strength won't come in to play during any normal riding situation. Also, you have to take into account the guard as a whole because the entirety of the guard actually adds strength. The fact that there are supports and gussets also strengthens the guard as a whole. I totally see where you're coming from but according to our testing, while taking all things into account, both sets of guards do a very good job of protecting the bike during typical tip-overs. I'm not sure exactly what you were getting at with your post but tubing strength was definitely taken into account when designing/manufacturing these parts. If the diameter alone was enough to significantly weaken the guard, we would have made all of the guards with the same tubing. However, since we found the variance in strength insignificant (once everything is taken into account, that is) we decided there was no down side to having both types. I hope that addressed your concern!

Sorry, Snype, we won't be doing another Group Buy for these anytime soon. If you'd like to order them you can send me a PM or call us toll free at 866.886.2368. The Canyon Cages are $300 for the 2010-2012 Connie and $275 for the 2008-2009.

See the post before yours.....

I have these on order. Do the new instructions come with torque specs. If not can someone tell me what they are?

Sorry for the double post.. Late night posting and multiple threads <smile>
Thanks for the info!

I have attempted to clarify the question of torque specs but nobody has really confirmed anything. The specs in the manual do not correlate with the specs that I was given by Ryan. I posted the manual info for reference. If you search you will find my post.

Hey there! My name is Ryan and I can help you get an oder placed, no problem. However, I'm not going to be in the office until tomorrow (we're closed Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) so I can't calculate the exact shipping cost for you although, for those two parts going across the pond, it's usually in the $100 range. As for the parts themselves, the #1400-110 is $365 and the #1400-310 is $175. However, you may want to look into the #1400-410 (the Canyon Cage) as well, it's been very popular among civilian riders and it's a bit less than the #1400-110 at $300.
Anyway, I can get your order put in tomorrow morning for you. You can either PM or email your address to me and then we can discuss payment options. I can't check inventory right now so I'm not sure if those parts are in stock. If they aren't, there's no need to pay until your order is ready to ship. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Ryan - I just needed pricing currently as I need to persuade my long haired general to release funds before I can order....
I chose the #1400-110 as it had the mounting points for the additional spotlights that I salvaged from my Goldwing before the trade in to the GTR.
