I think the word you meant to use was 'caliber', not karma. :-)
Anyone remember a few (well, a bunch) of years back when LEO's were escorting a guy back to where he was charged with child molestation? Outstanding video of them walking down the airport concourse (note the 'e'- no motorcycles involved here), the prisoner in shackles. They were just walking past a gentleman talking on a pay phone WHEN SUDDENLY, the guy on the phone dropped the phone, turned and dropped the "suspect" in his tracks. Then he dropped the pistol in his had and put both hands up and stood perfectly still. Of course it turned out that the gentleman on the phone / pistol was the molested kid's father. I do not remember how that case turned out legally though.
Society has become very permissive. Occasionally though, someone gets reminded that he / she cannot do 'that' and sometimes the reminders are harsh, as the 'that' that causes the reminder is often harsh in the first place.

If we used the "eye for an eye" analogy? I have no use for impaired drivers and feel zero pity for them. Karma works in strange ways and in this case swiftly. At the very least the father would be guilty of temporary insanity. Did he do it? Likely, but it has been decided he was innocent of the crime he was charged with. I think the jury came to the right conclusion (based solely on what I have read). Both families will live with this for the rest of their lives, sadly the 2 children killed won't have that opportunity...
