A friend of mine and I made a beer run to Ohio for Yeungling last Friday. Put about 350 miles on and figured out that the C14 with an E55 Givi and a cortech tank bag will hold a full case of 12oz bottles and 3 1/2 cases of 12oz cans.....the handling does get a little funky but nothing horrendous.
On a side note: Spokes restaraunt in Pioneer Ohio has excellent liver and onions.
Side note 2: A BMW R1200RT will kick your butt in roll ons in top gear from 60..... but a few downshifts and the C14 leaves. ;)

I don't always drink beer, but when I do it is Yuengling Traditional Lager or Black and Tan. 8)
I hit Hwy 49 across Alabama yesterday fully loaded with luggage and definitely felt it in the twisties. Can't even imagine all the liquid moving around.

Brought back Black and Tan in bottles, traditonal lager in cans and light lager in cans. ;)
Thankfully, liquid in a full container doesn't slosh. It was a great excuse to play hooky from work and ride.

6th gear is too tall. Leave it in 5th and she should walk away.

SIDE NOTE 3: Get your ECU re-flashed by Guhl Motors and my friends BMW R1200RT won't walk away, I am the one that walks away in 6 gear.

Not nice to make that kinda statement without offering up what beer you prefer to drink instead so we can know how to validate your claim. ::)

The RT has got LOTS of low to mid where the C14 has none. A Guhl reflash is in order for sure. She is plenty fast stock but you have to spin it. You should not have to spin an engine this big to make gobs of power.
As for the beer. It's a nostalgic thing. We can't get it here, I grew up in PA, and I like it when I want something light. My favorite is Stone Brewing Company Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale. ;)

Wow, my RT had no low to mid range, where my C14 has a ton. Plus it was geared too tall in first.

I am a beer snob of the worst degree, highly favor the small batch brews. IPA's, stouts, bocks, pale ales and high quality hard ciders........not a fan of big conglomerate companies. I like craft beers, not crap beers. ;)

I like Coors Light and all 'normal' tasting beers. Hate beer with a 'flavor'. Hate micro breweries. Love the stock beers of the 60's and 70's. :doublepuke: :rotflmao: I'm a snob as well.

I have great memories of 25 cent Pabst Blue Ribbon on Tap in Daytona Beach in 1981. 8)
Today I can't drink anything from anheuser busch, Miller, etc. But I definitely am not drinking beer with other flavors added either.

some folks don't know what BEER is supposed to tast like, just what the tards on tv tell you, and what you can get in the cooler at Quicky-Mart....might as well get a Slurpy and a SippyStraw at the counter, and take advanteage of the "point of purchase displays'.....thank you, come again......
real BEER, is a brewed concoction, and they are made with :
Barley
Water
Hops
Yeast
the types of each, and the quantities added, along with the time elements during the brew cycle, all yield beer.....
no other flavors need to be added....just some folks are afraid of Hops....(ewwwww) or yeasts that aren't made in a labororatory in Milwaulke...
sipping a "Green Flash Brewing co." hancrafted barleywine from SanDiego right now....mmmmmmmmmmmmmm 10.9% abv, 22oz bottle...
@$5.49 ea, pure pleasure.....

MOB....... Greenflash is EXCELLENT, I love the West Coast IPA and the double stout black ale. Now these are 2 good examples of what authentic high alcohol and high taste content craft brews are, and my list of others I love are huge. Why drink beer that has no taste or kick, and all it does is make you **** allot? Life is much too short to drink watered down flavorless beers with no character. :stirpot:

man that's a lot of bang for the buck!!!!!
my high end beer store doesn't even carry it.....it revels BigFoot ale 10 to 1 for slam dunk....

Awesome.... I can relate to bringing back cases of Yuengling. Today I prefer craft beers but I do have gallons and gallons of Yuengling through my veins over the years. Most places in PA you can still just say "give me a lager" to any bartender and you get a Yuengling. When I started college in 1986 we used to travel to get it because it was only available in PA, DE and NJ. Then in the 90s I'm living in FL and it shows up there and no more bringing back cases. I don't drink much Yuengling today.... but me and some college buddies still only drink Lord Chesterfield Ale cans out on the golf course. Lotta good times and memories have been with Yuengling.

Jees ........when I was at Northern Illinois it was runs across the Mississippi for Coors, then when I was in Chicago it was runs to Wisconsin for Point SPecial then later SPotted COw direct from New Glarus. NOw heading to Ohio for Yuengling. None of them are classically great beers but the fact that they taste good and are relatively inaccessible makes a good reason to make a run.

Right Pokey, and some folks have a different PH level in their mouth, which makes them appreciate different tastes. For me, the aluminum can really has a metal taste, and so I always drink out of bottles. I have noticed, that guys that always have a can of beer, are usually drinking the same brand. Which is a beer that goes flat quickly, something else they don't seem to mind. So some are more discriminating in their beer taste. All mouths are not the same! And I really like trying new beers.

2 tours in Germany and one in Belgium. I still favor Coors Light in a bottle. PBR was .25 in the beer machine next to the CQ desk, the other option was Tucher, I'd rather drink stagnant pond water then Tucher. Walk in at the end of the duty day, whip out 4 quarters as you entered the barracks, and enter the room halfway through the first beer. The Army sure was differant in the early '80s. 21st birthday wrecked me on Hefeweizen. Belgium did have a dark beer I loved, it was Duvel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duvel_Moortgat_Brewery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duvel_Moortgat_Brewery) , it did bring out the devil in people. FWIW, I will not drink budweiser in any form.

If I happen to buy some beer, when my supply of bourbon is getting frighteningly low, I'll usually spring for some Molson Ice or Labatts & once-in-a-while; Heineken. I also like Dortmunder Union & the classic black-n-tan; 1/2 pitcher of Harp Ale & the remainder Guiness Stout!
I won't waste my money on all those johnny-come-lately yuppie brews...

You are missing out on real true craft beers, the rest are big batch lager and pilsner water. :chugbeer:

Back when I was in the USCG, and drank alot, it was Old Millwaukee, Red, White and Blue, Pabst and whatever was cheapest on tap.
Now that I'm much older, and, do not drink much at all, I go for quality and taste, prefering IPAs and ESBs. I've become a beer snob, coffee snob, and by virtue of marriage, a red wine snob.

Nope, .22 is a frugal investment in shims (washers actually), cheap is the labor to twist the carb and drill the 7/64th hole ;D Names like "Thermobob" and "Doohickey" (AKA "Doo") do indeed create the impression of being cheap, but I assure you nothing says "Fruagl" like a set of ammo cans welded to fence posts cut to size and bailing wire used to secure said contraption and all of this to haul 5 cases of PBR to the woods ;D

Went to college in Anheuser Busch's back yard.... If it wasn't from AB St. Louis, it didn't get drank... In hindsight, I may have fried my tastebuds... :P.. I will drink anyone's beer if the price is right (free) and it is cold.
That being said, I did live in Germany in the early 90s. I was young, so I doubt I appreciated the beer as much as I should have. I just remember it was dark, warm, and after 2 liters I was making bad descisions....

To revive this thread :stirpot:, (haven't read the replies in a while), I have sampled some of those "craft beers" you speak of & I really don't care for the taste! :pukeface: reminds me of those foo foo drinks w/ the little umbrellas :rotflmao: not to mention they're bitter as hell!
And as you have mentioned before taste is very subjective.

My favorite all around Ohio Brewery is Great Lakes. Three Floyds out of Indiana is a great place to spend the afternoon ( home of the Dark Lord). Cigar City out of Tampa also offers a variety of brew to tantalize your palate, on my last Jai Alai.
Currently I am just south of Blanco Texas, home of the Real Ale Brewery that recently released their seasonal Ccoffee Porter.
The micro brew beer craze is spreading across this country like wild fire. My son-in-law probably has the best beer selection in Texas with over a 1000 different types of Imperial Stouts, Porters, and IPA's. We sampled Sam Adams Utopias last evening, taste more like a liquor than beer.

Black and Tan is my go to beer. DO NOT ORDER ANY KIND OF B&T IN AN IRISH PUB! Coors has been making something called "Third Shift", kind of a blue collar thing I think. Amber ale, similar to what AB was making a few years back with "American Ale". Winter calls for dark stuff though. The darker the better, like Mackeson's Triple Stout.

Living in Germany for a couple years turned me into a beer snob. I will still drink Natural light if I am feeling thirsty but usually if I want a good beer I reach for an O'Fallon or Schlafly (both STL brands).
Erdinger Hefeweisen was my absolute favorite while I was in Germany and their Dunkle was a close second.

TOTALLY AGREE w/ Pokey (this is a once-a-year event, apparently). Horrible beer. All the bars in Cincinnati have the stuff now and sorry, but it's just not a very good tasting beer. Now Fat Tire, Boddingtons, Bells, Cleveland Brewing's Elliot Ness, to name a few, are beers worthy of a trip.

Why on the black-n-tan and Irish bars? That makes no sense. The original B&T is Guiness and Smithwick's, both Irish and a good Irish bar knows how to mix them properly.
