Well it got to 55 deg. here in central Ohio today. ;D
The road salt was almost gone, and all traces of snow are history.
Got a little over 100 miles in today, stayed on the main roads just in case, the backroads sometimes don't get the attention as the main ones do around here.
Hope some of you got some riding in, as always, please be safe out there.
And please, ATGATT.
Greg

Glad to hear you're riding.
The last ride I managed was Dec 10/2011, and it was cool. Streets are now snow and salt covered here in Ottawa, probably won't get out on the Concours 'til late March or early April.
Winter project time!
-
Nice here today in central Virginia, weather mid 60's, a little windy. Did about 100 miles, mostly back roads. While there it has not snowed here, tomorrow apparently is the last day for deer hunting and there are a lot of hunters in their hunting outfits along the sides of the roads, good for them but a lot of anxiety for motorcylists and other travelers.
Tomorrow's weather is forecasted to be similar, will likely do 100- 200 miles.
Ride Safe.

67 and B.E.A.utiful here in Missouri. I took a short ride this morning and will be riding again this afternoon to go cigar shopping and pick up some FrogLube.
-
I didn't but I'm wishing that I had! Record, or near record, temps here in Northern Illinois today. The old record for this date is 55 and they're predicting 56. It's 50 right now. I saw a few bikes out this afternoon, 3 HDs and a Honda.
-
Didn't go out today, but plan on it tomorrow in NJ.
-
I rode into the office this morning, it was about 30 degrees out, but this afternoon when I head home it should be in the mid 40's.
-
Too nice today not to ride, got up to 60, plenty of sunshine, rode the Interceptor a little over 60 miles.
-
Rode both my C14 and my DR650 today. Supposed to get cold and snowy again tomorrow. So I had to get in some riding when I can.
-
Not today. I got caught in a mid-day meeting and two employees left early, but tomorrow it's 60's here in N. Ga so I RIDE!!! Glad you other guys got out.
-
I got in 120ish today. Nice and 70*
-
Almost 50 today in Salt Lake. Tested the baker hand wings, my sv650 suspension and brake mods. Also, a few sx laps on the dirt track to see how my yz250/300 is jetted. INCREDIBLE gift to be able to ride today in utah.
-
76 here in Houston today. Rode to work

So how did the Baker wings work for ya Roland? Those are the ebay ones right?
-
pretty nice here in Colorado. rode the C14 and the Vstrom both today.
tomorrow and Sunday do not look good, but Monday is looking like another good day
-
I got in a total of about 250 miles today. 85 on the way to work when it ranged from 28 to 42 degrees. It was very calm and I saw that full temp variation during the first 20 miles.
It was 73 degrees after work today, so I took the LONG way home. Also went by MotoLiberty and picked up a set of gloves with the gift certificate the kids gave me for Christmas.
(I'm in the north Texas area.)
-
Temperature got up to the high forties today Welland Ontario. Got 150 k's in . Shorty hemet and no longjohns. What a great bike

55 deg in Pennsylvania today! Great weather, woke up early this afternoon to get a few chores done, rode Connie and didn't want to go home, but have to
start my 'morning routine', and off to work at 10:30pm.. Going to get some saddle time tomorrow and Sunday, maybe Monday?
-
Just moved from Western Wa to Eastern Wa and put the connie to bed at my folks place while I sort out all the moving details. What a shame, cause it was almost 70 degrees here a couple days ago. I'm headed to the folks Sat morning to pick my baby back up!! I've not seen a winter like this. Its time to ride..........
-
Saturday the 7th is a chili cook off at a Harley dealer in Sanford Fl and it will be 75 degrees, I'll certainly be riding over there. Rode to work on the 6th, it was 45 low and 70 high, what a perfect day of riding.
-
mid 60's here yesterday. Dropped off the Connie for the 600 mile service, picked up the Vulcan from her 50k mile service (plus front spring replacement and new bearings) and picked up the Connie near the end of the day. So no real riding, but both the girls got a short trip. Soon as I get my risers on, I'll get an hour or so in to test them out this afternoon before I have to meet other commitments.
Edit: Mid 60's again today with nothing but sun. Farkled her up and did a 60 mile loop to check out the new set up. 8) 8)

48 today in Ohio 1-7-12...... 75 mile little ride, topped off the tank and back in the garage all covered up.............
-
Mid 60's today(1-7-2012) in Central VA, got in 160 miles, rode with my buddy on his new BMW GT1600 (looks very similar to my 09 Connis), the Harleys were out in force
-
Got my priorities in order today, but it was short. 45 miles, total enjoyment. Great day.
-
Rode today (1/7/12) to air guard duty here in PA. Started in low 30's but low 60's by the end of the day. :)
-
67 and B.E.A.utiful here in Missouri. I took a short ride this morning and will be riding again this afternoon to go cigar shopping and pick up some FrogLube.
Do you dip your cigars in the paste while cleaning/lubing your guns? 8)
-
Not today, I went shooting with my son and a buddy. Gonna get out for a bit hopefully 2morrow.
-
I was out yesterday! I wish I had made it to the Cave Day! Too many responsibilities...
At least I got to run my errands on two wheels!
This is getting weird for Minnesota though.
-

It is less toxic than the embalming fluid that you dip your see-gars into. ;D

Yup you can eat it, helps keep your insides cleaned out. ;)

100 miles for me today. I rode out rt 52 to Higginsport for lunch. The roads were in good shape, I only saw some salt on one side road off of 52. It's amazing how much a ride can help clear your head on a nice crisp day.

Took the WR250 out for a bit today, sure got cold when the sun started to go down. :yikes:
-
Well.....
1-9-12 this time, mid afternoon high of 46 and followed by 65 miles.
Not looking to do anything but ride and get some miles in.
The cold is on the way for the end of the week, predicting low teens at night and just low 20's for days.
If you ride, be safe out there.
Greg
-
It looks like the last good day in southwestern Ohio for a while. Better get those miles in while you can.

1-9 was treacherous! Northern VA got some snow flurries...totally unexpected. Long story short: 2 hour ride home in the snow...luckily i66 stayed clear and just a tad slushy, my windshield didn't do to well and had to lower it so i could keep my eye on the road (snow kept caking up on it), which made for a "windier" (is that a word?) ride home. Made it home safe and sound.
-
Will-Slushy really??-I've ridden in "blowing snow" situations on my C-14 and my LT. I can't imagine trying it in a slush situ on a big bike -although on my dead end street I always broke out dirtbikes-sideways,backwards and occasionally upside down!!

really a "tad." i didn't relish it. trust me, forecast was a clear day, and was pleasantly surprised. I got home, parked it, and finally took as breath. I did NOT ride today, as I was chicken shet that the weatherman would be wrong again.
-
Rode yesterday 1/17/12, pretty warm but-windy as hell...I was laughing to myself as the bike jumped around....always great to breakout the scooter in January in central Ohio.
Gimmee all the global warming Mother Earth can muster or move me south ;D ;D

Well, with half the internet down, I did a coffee run today. 28 deg. and wrapped up like Nanuk of the North, it really was a great ride. Only 55 miles and some strange looks, but they were just jealous.
Ride safe all,
Greg
-
128 miles today. First half at 25F - second at 55F. Gotta love those heated grips and Gerbling!
-
I did about a 1/2 mile on the KLR, in 8 inches of snow :yikes:

In December, we took a 300 mile ride, with about half of it in drizzling rain. Then the rain turned into a light snowfall, which was beautiful coming down. But as the elevation was rising and the day falling, it got more interesting from there. :) 25 miles in the snow that felt like 50. Just under 1/2" of snow stuck to the windshield. At times the snow was falling so thick that I had to wipe the faceshield every 2-3 seconds. We were following the tire tracks on the road, which stayed more or less clear (the tracks, not the road). At one point, I decided that the left track was getting a bit close to oncoming traffic, and had to cross 2-3" deep slush to get to the right track. That convinced me that it would be just as well to stay in the right track from there on. All in all, it was one of those "When is this merry-go-round going to stop? I'd like to get off." kind of experiences. At the coldest, the air temp dropped to 32.2F, but the bike never slipped nor hesitated.
You realize how stressed you were when it's raining and 33F degrees and you are celebrating the warm, clear weather. :) First real ride in the snow, and it was fun. Not ready to do it again anytime soon, however.

You guys impresss me! I'll never do that, ride in snow, ever. Besides, roads here in northern Ohio are literally covered in salt and calcium chloride, even on clear days after a rain its still there. If you want your bike to corrode away in a few years ride in this mess, even if you hose it off, it still leaches out from nooks and crannys of the vehicle. First snow my bike gets stored not to appear until after a few good HARD rains in spring.

+1. The roads around here are exactly the same.
-
Just a few miles for me today, In Salt Lake City. I feel like every ride here, in January, is cheating the system. It was cold and I had to be careful to go around ice spots on the road, but very fun.

LOL...I didn't impress me. I was pissed for being out...but weather ap duped me. Luckily its been pretty mild this winter in northern VA...cold as snow man's balls, but very little snow.
-
Hey All!! Another 140 odd miles today 1/31 in and around Central Ohio........Love this winter-but I KNOW its coming,we are gonna pay for our riding days in Dec,Jan, sometime I am certain of it :chugbeer:

Way to go Mike, I hit Iron Pony just because today. Got 147 in before the misting rain started.
Looks like tomorrow (Wed. the 1st) will be in the upper 40's and good in the afternoon.
Ride safe all,
Greg
-
I got 50 k's in today. It was warm enough to ride all day long, but there was a lot of wet spots and salt on the dry roads . Near Niagara Falls Ontario
-
Salty in Minneapolis too, but that didn't stop me either.
It was all boring riding around the city (doing errands) but boy all those cagers looking at me didn't know what they were missing!

Sounds like fun! Luckily I work at home on Mondays, and was amazed that it snowed all day even though the weather jerks said it would be clear. I did sell my '02 that night, and has to run it up ramps onto the back of a pickup. Dark out, slushy street, wet ramps, full tank of gas are not a good combo for loading a C10. My foot slipped at the top of the ramps, and I almost dumped it off the side. Heart skipped a beat, but I was able to catch it.
68 degrees at the moment...today should make for a nice ride home!

Bummer Roadie. Hope the tests come back with a good report.
And knowing that some of you are wrestling with cold weather and such, here is a NSFSBR (not safe for snow bound riders) link to our little jaunt down to Monterey Sunday. ;D

Hope all comes out good and you're back on the bike today...spitting on the way in, but should be sunny this afternoon.

i rode to jury duty in cincy today. mostly sunny and mid 50's. no discount for bike parking- $6. same as my 1/2 ton p/u.
-
Jury duty pay doesn't cover that ? You need to get a hold of Kathy Bates on Harry's Law, I bet she could help you. I got in a simple 12 miles, cause I was looking for cheaper then $3.49 a gallon gas around here.
And judging from the news this evening, we are not going to down anytime soon.
It might be time for a gas revolt, I wonder if we could get that started.
Well anyway, ride safe all,
Greg

Jury pay in Hamilton Co is $19 per day. That is supposed to help cover parking and lunch. I'm taking the bike again today- *60 and sunny by lunch time. Wind and rain moving in tonight.

I hope that you have an interesting case at least?
Round these parts we get jack squat for jury duty, BUT, my employer still pays me so that's good.
-
I rode 30 miles today. 72 and breezy in N.Ga. Winter'll be back...
-
Had an awesome ride today. My buddy and I swapped bikes for about 80 miles and he is trying to talk his wife into letting him trade his ZX14 for a C14. ;D Had lunch at the Bixby General store and it was excellent as usual.
Supposed to be warmer tomorrow, I will probably be out again.

65 today here in central Ohio, WTFIGO ?
Got a comfortable 124 miles in, hit a few spots I haven't seen in a while, including one of my fav. Coffee House girls. She had my joe ready and waiting for me when I hit the door, she was expecting me for some reason. Hope some more of you got out today, might be next week before i do this again.
Ride safe all,
Greg

Woke this morning pondering, “Should I ride my FUJI Road Bicycle and think about the Connie or should I ride the Connie and think about the road bike”? The Connie normally wins, but not this morning. There is nothing like the serenity of riding a bicycle on a spring-like morning (63 degrees), with the birds chirping, crows squawking, frogs crooking and the sounds of a distant train - one of the advantages of the bicycle over the motorcycle is that you can hear everything. The bicycle is particularly enjoyable when the engine feels good. Besides, riding the bicycle makes me a better motorcyclist.
Ran across another bicycle, gave him the “wave” and he said “what’s happening”?
Back home now, and the Connie is sitting there, like a cougar staking its prey and patiently awaiting the Harley’s it’s going to pounce today.

I have been riding my Kona every evening. It isn't that quiet since the tires hum happily along while I am on pavement. That bike is much happier on a dirt trail but since I have my son in front of me in a seat there isn't much excitement going on. But Karson (my son) and I have a blast. He points out everything that he sees and I love to hear him chatter about how he sees the world. The hills around our neighborhood are the perfect place to get a good workout. Even at a moderate pace I get a great workout since my butt never leaves the seat.
Here is a picture from this past summer when I had just started taking Karson for rides.

Rode about 60 miles today, to work, around, to a meeting, and back. Had the winter coat and gauntlets on and flat broke out into a sweat on the way home. Just about ready for the mesh jacket again (winter'll be back, one more time...)
-
Well...........................................
68 today here in Ohio, just awesome. Got 167 miles and could have done more, but had to get a Roast in the oven for some family. Hope you got out today.
Please ride safe,
Greg
