2nd week of September, about 9 days of riding, good food and camping.
Leaving from Ottawa Sat. the 8th or thereabouts, depending on hurricanes. Back Sept. 16th.
Any interest?

George I hope you have good ride. I'm heading out about the same time heading for points West. I'm planning on being out for 3 or 4 weeks and will be camping all the way. Camping and riding just seem to go together so well. I can't spend all day outside on the bike and then lock myself up in a motel room. It just ain't right. Enjoy

Leaving SE PA the morning of the 6th, returning the 12th. headed down Skyline, BRP, planning on visiting the Gap and running Wayah Rd. I'll be the Blue C10 leading a couple HDs and a Triumph (I'll be the guy packing along fuses, wire and duct tape for his friends :-) )
beep and wave is ya see me!

Quick update - Fantastic week! - Left on 9/6,returned 9/12. SE PA to Deals Gap area. Skyline Drive, BRP to Asheville. Massive rain at Mt Mitchell on saturday so we bailed to "regular roads" to Maggie Valley. Stayed at MV for 2 nights, ran Deals Gap/Cherohala skyway on Sunday. Headed back north on monday.
On sunday we did 350 miles of all back roads. Rt 28, Deals, Skyway, Foothills parkway, GSMNP etc. Fantastic day of riding.
My total miles for the week - 2089. most days averaged 250-300 miles - only ~200 miles total were Interstate.
In the small world department - I ran into the previous owner of my Connie while pumping gas at the Tail of the Dragon store.
Obligatory pics attached :-)

Saturday Sept. 8 was teeming rain in Ottawa so I wimped out and waited 'til Sunday to leave. After that, had 9 days of lovely sunshine for riding. It takes me about 3 days riding before the ability to handle curves with confidence returns but after that, everything was fine.
A couple of pics of blue skies and mountains.
And a couple of a KLR I encountered whose owner has some unique ideas about carrying stuff on a motorcycle. The grizzled guy with the bandana, despite the arrangement he was moving down the Parkway at a good clip.
